I'm only part-time 2 units and feeling alittle overwhelmed. My biggest issue is Biology. Lecturer tells you the whole lot (ie layers of the epidermis) then says you dont need to know all that, then I can't remember which ones I did need to remember. I guess once we get into the swing of it it'll all fall into place but right now I'm checking blackboard ten times a day making sure I haven't forgotten to do something before class!

Yes, I think most of us are really busy. I spent a whole day plus one night on biol119 week 1. Tonight, I will prob start in 10mins on my biol chapter 2. Will prob be up to midnight on that. I think I did about 20 hours on top of contact time in the first week. I think we will all get faster though. I accually havn't slept properly since I started. I keep dreaming about all the work I have to do.... We will be fine though.. Take one assessment at a time... The good thing is, that I am really enjoying it. I find it all interesting.. Biol is hard, but we will get there. I think the recent school leavers have an advantage on that subject, but the older students have advantages in other area's eg.. communication etc... You will be fine Willow!!!

I was hoping I could stick my head in and ask a question.

I am desperately wanting to do nursing/mid and would be applying as mature age student w/o YR12.

Did anyone else in this situation do -volunteer work in the health industry
certificate iv or diploma of nursing
    or single unit enrolements
before appling at uni or did you just complete the STAT multiple choice(which I have done, but the score wasn't very high) and complete a PI form?

This is absolutely doing my head in.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Wow I see we are all really busy!

    I have completed day 2!!

Day one I got to my first class and they wouldn't let me in! I had wrong shoes on so I cried... Made it up in my lunch break!

    The day got better..

Day 2 was pretty good except for the fact that going into my last class the little haggis holding my breast milk popped and went over everything!! I now have to rewrite everything I have written so far.!!!

Oh well it Might make some information stick!

Now unless I want to be behind I need to read about 50 pages from 11 books...

That's 50x11. Whao!! Now to fit that around the four kids!!

Does anyone have any advice to help make understanding good health a bit easier

    hi girls,

    everyone is busy!!!

I've managed to have my second coc lady fall in my lap!!! She works at the same shopping centre and knew I was doing mid from chitchat and today she come in asking if I would be her student midwife! yay.

I was worried I might *know* her a bit much, but after talking with my clinical lecturer today I'm so happy I have 2 coc's and I havn't hit the antenatal clinic yet! So I'm off to the hospital tomorrow with her - and then I've got my first antenatal clinic on Thursday night.

Hope everyone is doing well and having fun! I'm so glad I transfered from nursing to b. midwifery. Every day I wake up knowing I love what I'm doing and what I'm working towards.
I can't wait to be a midwife night Zoe

Anyone else pulling their hair out with Biol119 at ACU. I'm just not getting it! I didn't do biology at high school and now I'm regretting it big time. A simple thing like a cell is giving me sleepless nights. It's driving me nuts and it's only week 2. Now I'm stressing about the test coming up in week 4.

Try googling cell biology, and then watch some youtubes on it. look for basic ones, and the descriptions i found helped me to get my head around things.
I found ones by khanacademy were really good. Just drawing explanations of things but to me it just made a lot of sense. He has ones on all sorts of biology and anatomy! Stick with it... it will come.

I am freaking out a bit now... first day of clinical placement tomorrow!

Zoe - That's fabulous news with your CoC! & I'm so glad you have no regrets swapping to BMid I remember wondering if I would end up starting another degree I wouldn't end up liking but thankfully NO I didn't

Glad everyone is enjoying uni.....The A&P is challenging but I agree, it does come. Try YouTube videos, colour books, charts, flash cards etc until you find a way that helps you to remember. Also mnemonics may help.
