    Default Which carpet cleaner?

I really need to clean our carpets and especially our rug in the loungeroom. Can anybody suggest a really good one? I need to be able to get older stains out too.

And also, what is the best way to do it?

    Thanks.

My looungeroom carpet was an absolute disgrace , we hadn't cleaned it for a LONG time- complete with old red wine stains.

A couple of weeks ago we hired a "Rug Doctor" for 24 hrs and bought the big 2litre bottle of regular carpet cleaner- I think all up we paid around $50... we went over the lounge three in 24hrs and did the rest of the carpets 1- 2 times depending upon the room. We still have half the bottle left for another time.

The dirt that came out was phenomenal the water went BLACK and I mean really black!!! But what a difference its made- I'm no longer embarrassed to bring anyone into the house- and we're going to hire it again around March and repeat the cleaning and it'll only cost around $30 as we've got the fluid already. Hubby is converted too.
If you go for this- prep the rooms in advance- move any furniture and vacuum the night before then you get max benefit time wise- you can get a clean done in the morning- another at night if you've had good drying (heating on or windows open) and if you're really devoted a third done just before returning it next morning.

    Good luck

I have a bottle of spot carpet cleaner that I think I got at a pet supply store, one of our doggies used to be very naughty! It's called 1-9-5-2 Carpet Stain Remover and Freshener, and is magic at removing spots. Contains no bleaches or chlorine or peroxide and is biodegradable. The bottle says it can be used with a carpet shampoo machine, but I've never tried it.

Wow. Thanks for your replies ladies.

Nick47- Whereabouts did you hire the "Rug Doctor"? It sounds amazing. And relatively cheap too by the sounds of it. Not too sure that i want to see the colour the water will become though!

I will have a look for the Carpet and Stain remover tomorrow too.

Thanks again for your help ladies.

We hired it from our local Ritchies/IGA in Ringwood Nth... there are similar things to rent at Bunnings/Kmart and Coles I believe... though the ones in Coles looked a lot older and more complex ... Maybe just call the local Bunnings first and ask if they have a Rug Doctor for hire- they'll be able to tell you where if they don't do it.

    Good Luck
