    Default How weird.. strawberry birthmarks

My ds has a strawberry birthmark about the size of a 50c piece on his arm. Before he had a breath holding tantrum (he has never full on stopped breathing thankfully!) and I noticed that the birthmark changed colour, it went a greyish purple colour. Guess it's to do with the oxygen in the blood? Anyway, just a random observation!

Might be worth having it checked out as strawberry birthmarks have been known to bleed or have ulcers underneath them. Hopefully it is nothing, of course but best be safe than sorry.

That could be true My DD has one on her chest and it goes a bright reddy type colour when she has a bath or it is a hot day.

I had a strawberry birth mark on my belly, about the size of 50c, however i never noticed that it changed colour, very interesting observation!!! Its faded and shrunk now though, can only just see a couple of red marks where it is.

I have an appointment with a Ped in a couple of weeks for an allergy test, and my Dr did advise me to ask him about the birthmark just to be on the safe side. I had one when I was a baby, only a small 5c piece size one, but it disappeared by the time I was 7 and didn't cause me any issues. It was in an easy to hide spot though, I constantly get questions about his mark when he is wearing a tshirt and kids are often shocked by it when they see it, asking if he needs a band-aid, does it hurt etc. gets tiring explaining all the time that it's just a birthmark.

DD2 has a strawberry birthmark on her head right where that 'spiral' in your hair is, she's pure blonde though and it's still there, CHN has always kept an eye on it i've been told it will just grow out or something. Hopefully the change in colour is nothing to worry about!
