Placenta Seperation ???

My first 2 labours were quick and yes they hurt but i coped. My 3rd was 12 hours and the pain was horrific nothing like the other two the pain was out of this world, any way when he was born the placenta was at his feet, so his feet came out then the placenta went splat on the floor instantly it had seperated during the labour, hence the pain. He was born blue and not breathing very well he was on 90 % oxygen for 4 hours untill they took him to a bigger hospital where he was put on CPAP and in NICU for 2 days. I am pregnant again and i am scared it will happen again and that this time we may not be so lucky. Has anyone had this happen and then had a another baby ??? i am terrifed of it happening again we were so lucky that it seperated so close to the birth not earlier.
