    Default Nappy Rash

DD has had bad nappy rash for nearly a week now and its not getting any better.

we have been using sudocream and bepantham and it not working. I have let her go with a nappy off for a while but not too often as its been too hot to go outside.

She was ok in the pool but now when ever the nappy is off she seems to be scratching it.

She is also getting her last 2 eye teeth atm. Any idea on what else to do?

When your changing her nappy, take her into the bath/shower and rinse her bum with your hand and plain old water (no soap or washer)

Pat dry with a towel, then leave her nappy off for 5 or so mins till shes well and truely dried out.

Then put a thick layer of cream on her bum then nappy and do this every nappy change.

If the skin is not broken you could powder insted (ive always found powder is great for drying out NR)

Also Im not sure sudocream or bepantham is but we use 'Curash' which has zinc oxide in it and I always find it helps alot. Especially a thick layer on her bum for bedtime aswell.

Are you sure its nappy rash and not thrush? They can look very similar and may explain why shes scratching it alot. Hope this helps.
Walk a mile in someones' shoes before you judge them,
that way, when you do judge them,
you are a mile away.. and you have their shoes.

I am taking her to the dr this afternoon to get it looked at. Its mainly at the front and where the nappy goes around her legs

My DD has had nappy rash for about a week. I was using Bepanthen and giving nappy free time as much as possible but it wasn't clearing. I ended up buying Daktozin from the Pharmacy as it was getting worse but looked like it could be thrush. I have been using it for 4 days at every nappy change and it has cleared up heaps.

Canesten is great, for general creams I have been using vaseline on my boys since day dot and they have barely had nappy rash, if they do I use the canesten and it clears up within a day or so.

so we have been to the dr, he said its def nappy rash and use hyrdozole and leave her nappy off when she is sleeping. not going to do that is she will get cold and too messy.

    Hopefully that will clear it.

    Thanks for all the replies

My doc recommended desitin. It worked like a miracle on my son. You buy it at the chemist. Its zinc based but much stronger than the supermarket brands. He was heaps better in 24 hours and all gone by 48 and his rear end wash shocking before using it.
