Urgent Q: Rash & Swollen Glands!

Hi!  
On Sunday night DD got up to 38 degrees, so not much of a temp. Had panadol, was awake for a while but ended up sleeping about 10...

Last night she came home from MIL's with very swollen glands. She still has this. But no temp.

I went to the Dr today who said her throat was very red and to keep her hydrated (which is proving impossible as she won't take water any way, wet face washers, ice to play with, ice in a face washer or water melon).

She's not got a rash all over her head, which is starting to spread to her face and looks like it's starting to come up a bit on her arms and back. She also has a different rash on both knees (which could be from trying to crawl - she's 6 months - but she's been doing that for days and this is the only time it's come up)...

She still has no temp...

What should we do?

If you're worried at her to the hosp, rashes make me worry about minigacoccle (terribly spelt!).

It could be a simple heat rash though. Only you can make the call

Its just worrying the way its worse now, even though its cooler.

Take her to the dr or hospital again. Might just be heat rash, but there has been an outbreak of measles in vic. Not sure where u are.

With a rash and not wanting to drink being a dehydration risk, best to get her checked. Im a bit of a worrier so always think its best to err on the side of a trip to the drs though.

Hope she feels better soon.

Oh for hydration you could try the hydralite icypoles from the chemist, or pop her in the bath with cups to play with. Sometimes thats the only way i can get ds to drink any water.

she's only 6 months so doesn't get cups yet :P

The rash seems to be going away, still there but definately going away... She's so freakin hot though, but with no temp - she's sweating and clammy. She will not go to bed...

and she's not even happy if she's up now either...

I've just given her some nurofen...

I'd be taking her back to a dr seeming it is now day 4?

If it were me I would be taking her back to the doctor or hospital, poor little thing, hope she feels better soon.

She's still sleeping, little thing. I've been checking her all night making sure she's still breathing... Paranoid mumma here! I'll let you know when she wakes up...

My DD has a rash, they think it is pool related as she reacted to something in the water there but I am taking her to the doctor every time rash gets stronger or every second day really just to be on a safe side... They did say that it is nothing very serious and we do not have temp as well but I just do not like rash...makes me nervous... Also a doctor told me that virus can have up to 100 different types of rash in small children... I was worried about rubella (I am pregnant) but the doctor said she would have temp and swallen glands if rubella Hope your little one gets better soon!

Thanks... I think she's starting to get dehydrated now - still has the rash although thankfully it hasn't gotten worse, still has super swollen glands but after almost 12 hours sleep, she had hardly a wet nappy at all. So I've decided if she has no more wet nappies by midday I'll go up to the hospital. Especially since I've tried everything (bottle, sippy cup, wet washer, ice) to get her to have fluids, and she doesn't want a bar of any of it!
