    Unhappy Am I risking infection...?

    Hi all!

I posted a couple of days ago about how my 6 month old DD bit me while BF'ing and drew blood. I decided to keep feeding her the last day or two, although it sort of hurts, to keep up my supply. Earlier today, I had had enough of the pain so decided I should give that boob a break, feed just on the other side and pump the damaged boob to keep up my supply.

So tonight I went to pump for the first time and it bled pretty much straight away! I rang the Maternal Hotline and the women wasn't really 100% as to what to do. She sort of guessed it would be better for bubs to feed rather than for me to pump, but now I'm mostly worried about possible infection.

Apparantly DD having a bit of my blood with the milk is ok, but I don't want to prolong this boob from healing... but then again don't want to lose my supply!

For those of you who have been bitten to the point of blood before, how did you continue without causing infection...?

    Thanks in advance!!!

I used a nipple shield and kept feeding from that side.

I hope that you can get it healed ok.

I stoped bf on that side for 2 to 3 days and then it healed up. It didn't dry my supply at all.

this has happened a couple of times for me. Unfortunately it usually takes me 2-3 weeks to heal, it's hard when you need to keep feeding to keep supply but it re-opens the cut. I sympathise, those were tortuous times
