Default HELP! First time mummy to be freak out..

I am just past 7 weeks pregnant and due to have my first scan next week. Woke up this morning and went to the loo and when I wiped there was blood. It was brown (so hoping old blood). This is our first baby and it's been a long road to get even to this point...should I be worried? What should I do?

Its only 7am here and my doctor of course doesn't work Saturdays. My DH is away so I'm home by myself and really starting to freak out.

Oh you poor thing, it's horrible isn't it?

I also bled some brown blood at 7 weeks with DS1. As you say, it's old blood and for me it was nothing to worry about. If you see any fresh blood I would head to the ER, but unless that happens you're probably better off taking it easy at home until you can speak to your doctor.

Many hugs and sticky baby vibes.

Bleeding in pregnancy is very common. I know how easy it is to freak out because I've had lots this pregnancy. Brown blood usually indicates old blood. My OB wasn't concerned with my bleeding (some was quite substantial loss) unless I had pains. If you're worried though take it easy and call your dr when they open. Wishing you all the best for a trouble free pregnancy Xx

I know it's hard but try not to stress yet. I had brown spotting for about 4 days at one stage, but when I went to the scan there was a baby with a hearbeat.

If you do get worried and it increases with fresh blood and pain go to your ER

Brown blood is generally old blood. If it starts to turn pink/red or continues for a few days please talk to your care provider, especially if it's accompanied by cramping or discomfort. It is normal to have a little bleeding in early pregnancy, and quite common, But if you're stressed about it, you should talk to someone. Try to take it easy

Thanks for all the replies ladies. I know I should be trying to stay calm. It's good to hear that so many people have experienced and everything has been ok.

I rang my obs after hours number and spoke with him. He wants me to go get more bloods done and a scan just to check on things. I have been experiencing some cramping on and off since yesterday so that adds to my paranoia.

Now it's a drama to try and get in to see a GP. Mine no longer works weekends and all the others don't seem to open until 8am..

Try to relax physically and mentally. Have a bath (not too warm) read a book, watch a funny video, whatever works for you to help you relax because it actually does make a big difference. Don't stress about having to wait til 8. You'll be waiting another 30 to 35 weeks for this bub. Just take it easy
