    Default underarm temp 38.6

I've taken DD's temp underarm and it's 38.6. She's refused lunch, and her dinner last night (but ate her breakfast) and being a little bit whingy. I've given her some panadol. Should I take her to the docs?

    TIA

Strip her down, and keep up her fluids and if its warm, put her in a cool bath. The temp should come down with this and the panadol combined within 30 mins. If it doesn't come down sufficiently, after 2 hours you can give her nurofen. If it keeps going up, take her to A&E.

make sure the bath is warm/tepid.

Cool/cold is bad for a temp.

Yeah, that's what I meant to say (tepid). Once put a sick feverish baby into a cold bath and the scream could be heard a km away!

Just for interests sake too - my doctor told me last week to add 0.5 degrees on to a thermometer reading that was under the arm as that is generally more accurate. Could be a load of codswallop but???

DD's temp went up again at dinner, so I gave her a tepid bath, some more panadol and she's now asleep. I've got the aircon on in her room (she's had it on at night for the last month or so anyway), and I've dressed her in a short sleeved legless body suit, and just got a light sheet over her legs. Is that ok? I checked her temp an hour ago and it was ok. Might check it again now..

Had to take DD to the hospital last night. Temp didn't go down. Finally got it down after neurofen. We were sent home with instructions to get a pee sample but having a nightmare getting it!! They gave us 2 bags to use that go inside the nappy, and a jar to collect it, but I've gone through the 2 bags already with no success!! Any tips ladies?

They took temps under the arm when my son was in special care and didn't add anything on so it doesn't sound right to me.
