Shelby I would do as Jen has suggested and go to an FS. Get them to run some blood tests to check everything out.

Jen, what fantastic news, so exciting for you here's hoping for some more good news from you soon. You will have to cook up a storm in your new kitchen to celebrate!!!

Pommie hope the move for you has not been too daunting. Please keep in touch.

Welshmummy, glad to hear it was a win win situation with your computer 5mg of folic acid a day??? that seems like way too much....doesn't that make you feel ill having that much???!!!

    Keziah, MIA??

    to everyone else xo

I thought this might be a good thread to come in on as I have recently turned the big 40. I am very new to this whole TTC (and getting used to all the lingo). My period arrived today after our first month of trying although it has been about a year in the planning. I was a few days late and have been in the worst pain - took a couple of period pain tabs and using my heat bag and it all seems to be doing the trick . I did think I might have been pregnant as I had a few symptoms but I spose in retrospect they could be put down to anything really . Anyway, I have been using the maybe baby to test for ovulation for about two months now as I think I have prob only been ovulating in this time. The previous months were probablly not ovulation as I had been on the pill for many many many moons. Even though I have had ferns on and off since ovulation just over two weeks ago - period arrived this morning (infact, had me up at 5.30 am . So back to day 1 and yes I have small ferns this morning also, so my guess is that I have high oestrogen . Any hints on what to do about this?
Look forward to getting to know you all, cheers

Welcome Shelby, hopefully you won't be in here very long and you'll get that BFP soon. Maybe Baby is quite a difficult little sucker to work out!!!!! I get ferns when I am not supposed to get them and then don't get them when I should, lol. It really isn't that hot in my opinion, I still use it each month though!!!!!

I finally had a breakthrough with DP about having the SA done!!! I went and had the 21 day progesterone test done last week. My result was 24.9 which I was really happy about as it means I'm ovulating normally

Hope you gals are all well, sorry didn't do personals xo
Happy belated birthday, it sounds as though it was perfectly wonderful.

Amazingly I feel better than I have in yonks - also anything I don't need just gets wee'd away, lol. I'm sure it has made a real difference to how my ovaries are functioning.

AFM - Just doing this quickly at school as I am still waiting for that magical phone call to say my computer is fixed. My school laptop died today, lol. I think I must work it too hard.

Love to you all, may we all be lucky very soon.

Jen - woohoo, embietastic!! That's a fantastic number of A-grade embies, so its sounding great...are you doing a day5 or day 3 transfer? IKWYM about dreading the call from the lab, I used to feel sick everytime I saw their number on my phone...but this time for you its fabulous news, YAY!

Shelby - welcome to the thread and the world of TTC! It is daunting with all the acronyms and the general pressure we feel. Not sure what to advise abt the possible high estrogen levels - perhaps your body is still settling down from the pill. I recommend temperature charting - plenty of online info - to really pinpoint whats happening with ovulation over a few months. Its a bit annoying but you get used to it quickly. It really helped me to decipher my cycle, work out that I was ovulating early, and to see some patterns linked with endometriosis - I think all that helped in my case, although I needed IVF in the end, it got me to that place quicker...

In a few months, if no luck, perhaps you could do a day 2-3 FSH and estrogen level (blood test) to see how things are. But hopefully you wont need to. Good luck!

Feebs - great that Dh has finally agreed to the sperm test, and that he spoiled you on your Bday - you deserve it!

Sarah - interesting abt the high-dose folate. I know the theory is that there is a genetic issue (MTFHR gene) that can mean you dont metabolise folate properly so high doses are needed. My naturopath was saying she reckons that cos testing is expensive and not always conclusive anyway, why not just take the higher dose of folate and cover all bases. Glad to hear you're feeling good on it. Grr on the laptop - hopefully you will be reunited with your own computer soon.

I saw some school girls on the train and they had these supercute little mini-laptops in green flouro cases. I dont think they were ipads, I wonder if they were provided by the school...? Im confused about what all the govt initiatives are in that area...

    Keziah - we miss you!

Pommie, hope the move is going/went well.

AFM - all good, although starting to slow down a bit which is to be expected I guess. Got a close call on the gest diabetes test - abnormal result on the first then OK on the second. Many of my family have diabetes, and so just in case Im trying to be good with sugar & simple carbs. Hard to resist ice-cream in these heatwaves we've been having though... So glad its cooler now cos Im getting a bit more sleep.

    Sending much to everyone!

    Hi ladies,
Anemone, thanks, yes I will go this monday for day 5 transfer of 2 embies. After all these attempts, this is my first multiple transfer. other fs refused to do more than 1, and never had enough embies to do it. I am still in shock, as my last cycle was so bad with the bad eggs etc, i still can't believe now I have 9! the other one stopped growing.I feel guilty to have so many!!
be careful with sugar too, some fruits have loads of sugar, like oranges, and watch the juices and dried fruits.
I found myself last night dreaming of having twins, GASP, but I think I may be getting ahead of myself. Must remain positive!!
    bye lovely ladies xoxo
    Jen.

Jen - Yay for the double transfer! Will be crossing everything for you - this sounds like a really good cycle for you - fingers crossed for some for the freezer too. FET is a lot easier on the body when you come back for siblings for your twins .

Good point about the fruit. I never have juice, but I do have a bit of fruit and should probably stick to the veggies more.

thanks Anemone, I am taking all positive vibes that are going!!
just got back, had the 2 best embies transferred today, so the tww begins!!
My other embies some have stopped, or were abnormal, there are 2 still going so they will give me a call tomorrow to see if they are any good for freeezing.
My father in law has high sugar, so that why I researched about sugar high foods, he was eating up to 6 oranges a day!! plus the white bread, well we all know how its not good for us anyway. He would sit up in bed at night eating bloody bread rolls too! so thats all been knocked on the head.
    off to do some reading!!
    bye for now.

Jen - that's disappointing! But just remember the strongest ones are back in you now, and thats the best place for them. Will be Xg everything for the rest of your TWW.

Wow, 6 oranges a day, that's going some! Mind you probably the same as 2 juices which a lot of ppl have in a day and have no idea of the sugar content. Hope FIL has managed to get his sugars under control.

    So quiet in here atm!

    Hi Ladies,

How are you all? Just reading back to catch up. Jen seems like you've been on a bit of a roller coaster but I hope all is well in the TWW and that your two embies are snuggling in and making themselves comfy. Not sure how helpful these stories are but my mate at work's best mate has just had healthy IVF twins at 45. Got everything crossed.

Sarah good on you for winning your computer battle. Hope its back in your hands and working very soon. Hope things are settling down with school. Interesting about the folic, as you say the body excretes anything you don't need. I read an interesting article on a woman who was convinced it was the mercury in her diet which was causing her miscarriages, she was eating oily fish three times a week. When she stopped she got pregnant straight away and carried to term. Struck me because I'm sure it was the fish oil which tipped the balance for me. I think it just proves how little is really understood about the conditions for conception/pregnancy.

Feebs Happy birthday. Great result for you, I hope you get some answers from the SA. Yay!

Keziah, how are you gorgeous girl?

Shelby nice to have you with us. Hope your stay is short and sweet, good luck on the journey.

Anemone good on you for passing the second GTT. Just a bit more watching the diet hey? I had to go for the 2 hour test, GP wanted it because of my advanced age. Fortunately got through it OK. Hope you are starting to take things easy. Are you getting any time off?

AFM - landed in the UK on Saturday, currently staying with the in laws, off to our temporary digs tomorrow, hopefully into something a bit more permanent end of the month. Keep telling bubs to stay put, don't have anywhere to put he/she right now! Love to all xxx
