    Default Painting whilst pregnant...

    Hi all,

I know this has probably been asked a trillion times, but can I do some interior painting of walls, whilst pregnant, first trimester? DH will be doing most of it, I will just be rolling it on the walls; he's doing the ceiling, architraves, and edges, I'm just colouring the walls 'in'. LOL... it is a water base paint.

    Thanks.

As long as there are no nasty fumes i don't see why not. You could always wear one of those dust mask things if you're still concerned, though most water based paints aren't too yukky. The only thing for me was when i smelled the paint (even one that didn't really smell) it's set off my nausea.

    Congratulations on your pregnancy

When i was pregnant with DD2 i painted all 3 bedrooms. DF didnt even try and stop me cause he knew it wouldnt work.

This time ive painted the inside of our caravan but i had all the windows open and there was a good breeze so any fumes where blown away. If i had the car to get the paint id be painting the hallway and loungeroom this time as well.

Painting just seems to be my thing!

personally i stayed away from any painting myself but my doc said that minimal amounts of exposure in a well ventilated room aren't a problem. However they can't say wether or not is 100% safe as they have not been able to determine with 100% accuracy the effect of paint chemicals on the developing baby. It's one of those grey areas & it really depends on how careful you want to be.

Here is an article that might be of interest.
