Default Constant moaning/whining DS- going loopy!

    Hi all!

My DS in 6 months old and for the past week (approx) he has starting whining and moaning ALL DAY.

He is also making a noise that sounds like he's straining for a really big poo (sorry no better way to describe it!) but he isn't ... its almost as if he's super-annoyed.

He is not yet crawling (but trying very hard), but i'll sit him up- he whines, lay him on his back- he whines, lay him on his front- he whines, put him in the jumperoo- he whines. It is constant. The only time he stops is if i pick him up and walk around ... but i cant constantly walk around the house. He starts again if i stand still of sit down with him in my arms . Or if he is asleep

What is it? Please tell me it's just a short lived phase and he will be back to his normal happy contented self tomorrow!!! Thanks!

NO idea but my son goes through these phases. Doesn't usually last long. When it is really unbearable I put him in the pram and go for a walk with headphones on. Bad mothering 101

Have you ruled out pain issues like teething or an ear infection?

Hahahahaha !! Sorry but im sure I wrote a similar post when DD was the same age

Btw that grunt growl thing DD STILL does!!!!
She loves doing it in public when toddlers look at her!
Idk why they do it lol I thought it was only my DD but my other friends bub does it too!

My DD is 10 months now and because she's very mobile she now plays happily with her toys

I figure it's cause they need stimulation. Try going for a walk etc?

love it..the straing for a really big poo. yep it is a phase.. My DD is 8 months old and she used to make that same noise.. its like a cranky/frustrated noise LOL she now rolls around everywhere.. and will make the same grunting type noise if she is sitting on our lap and wants something.. like the remote and will get cranky cos she cant reach it. Enloy the groaning.. my LO has decided to scream or squeal randomaly.. like McDonalds playground type screaming.. ahhh LOL

Did he have a bad night sleep around the time it started? I know DS makes that exact noise when he's over tired, although he never looks it! But that moan is how I can tell.. He's also 6 months. But some babies are just more vocal than others haha so you might just have a chatter box on your hands!!!

Could be teething? Or maybe he's a bit constipated? Has he just started solids?

DD was like that when she was teething, it eased when the tooth cut (and then started again when the next tooth started to cut two days later ).

Not much I can suggest! For teething we have an amber necklace and I let her eat some cold rockmelon wedges. For constipation increase fluids and have a look at what he's eating. I did end up carrying her a lot, though she was happy in the pram and out and about as well.
The value of a life cannot be determined in a person's genetic make-up or the number of their days, but in the joy and love they have to share.

    Yay! Thanks for the replies!

Kar: When it gets really bad here i take him for a drive in his carseat ... he doesnt moan then!! Bad mothering 101 indeed!!!

delirium: I havent rules out pain. Im taking him to the doctors today just to get him checked over. He doesnt have any teeth yet, and isnt showing any of the "classic" signs. I have given him nurofen ocassionaly during this time but it doesnt seem to have an effect on the moaning/noises.

pinkbella: i have thought it could possibly be the stimulation thing ... but he isn't interested in playing with the mountain of toys he has! Maybe i'll try the walk thing.

Ladybugz: lol at the screaming! right now i think i'd prefer that ... but once he starts doing that i'll probably seriously change my mind

MissSteph: No, no bad sleep. He is a pretty good sleeper going from 6pm til 6am with one quick feed and multiple naps during the day.

Sigh, ive no idea but i feel a little like im going mad and i'm not enjoying spending time with him, which then makes me feel guilty.

He has started solids about a month or so ago but he poo's every day loads and its noce and soft ... OVERSHARE! lol

But the teething is what im seriously considering. I cant think of anything else it could be. I have an amber necklace which i havent been putting on him ... useful! So when he wakes from his nap i'll put it on. And great tip about the rockmelon, thanks!
