    Hi,

Just popping in quickly, so please forgive the lack of personals.

PA80 - I found this to be a good start for MTHFR information generally (it should touch on some of your questions):
    http://www.medhelp.org/posts/MTHFR-M...s/show/1376314

Most websites don't footnote their sources, so I've found this site very helpful for finding scientific articles:
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Without any folate supplementation it's thought you have a two fold increase of having a child with down syndrome. Folic acid is extremely effective in decreasing this risk - I don't have any stats at hand. If you and DH are feeling unsure, I would suggest speaking with a genetic counsellor. I consulted with one before TTC through Mothersafe (NSW organization), it was extremely useful and bulk billed. Here is the website (has info for services in other states):
    http://www.mothersafe.org.au/

    Hope this helps.

    Hopeful - good luck today!

Elliemaysmama - I take 500mcg of B12 as it addresses some MTHFR issues (helps the body metabolize folic acid and lowers homocysteine levels). I'm not aware if it has any other functions that could help with auto immune issues.

Hopeful&Waiting- I hope today went ok, and hopefully you got some good news

WindUpBird- Thanks for the info, its so hard trying to work it out and not get over emotional! I had a chat to my doc's Middie today, she reassured me, so now I just have to hope DH feels at peace with TTC

    to you all xox

Well the Lachlan's doctor gave him a blood test referral so they can see if he has all my blood conditions. I am a bit nervous about this as I really just want him to be like every little boy, not wrapped up in cotton wool. Also next week I have my specialist appointment...hopefully nothing has gotten worse.

HI everyone, Been reading along and have some time to reply this morning, while DD 'feeds' her baby dolls.

Completely frustrated and angry!! I have found an Independant m/w who I really like and who will suppot me for a VBAC at home
But the porblem has been getting the bloody Clexane script. I'll need to start it at 4 weeks pregnant, so I wanted to get my hands on
some while we're trying tcc. Then I can start on it right away.

In this counrty IM can't write prescriptions, unlike NZ where they can get prescribing rights. I asked my GP if she would give me a script.
    She was unsupportive.
    It's just so s*^^^#^@%ty!!
All this political bull leaves me without the medication that I need to maintain a pregnancy!!!
It makes me so ANGRY. Im some ways I think I might just do the asprin and hope for the best. By Ob last time only put me on the
clexane because I asked her about it, maybe I didn't even need it. But I know it worked and I would be horribly upset if the asprin
    alone was not enough.

hopefulandwaiting: Glad for you that you've got that clear tube.

PA80: You are not selfish at all. There are many worse diseases and the downs can be screened for in utero.

i have Factor 5 leiden aswell.I seen my gp last month on what to take when i get a bfp but he told me to take nothing, as i have a had a m/c before and my sister also has f5l which caused her m/cs and stillbirth, she was put on the asprin. So am thinking i should get another opinion as i dont want to risk losing another baby.

    Hi chubear

I would definitely get a second opinion as you dont want to go through any unnessessary pain down the line just cause one Doc wouldnt prescribe you something that you later find out that you needed all along..... trust your instincts....

Hopeful that is fantastic news!!!! Good luck with all the ttc!!

Kimnus, I know how you feel about your little one. I'm afraid that my dd will have same issues as me too. My Specialist back in Ireland said that she had a 50/50 chance of inheriting the deficiency from me..hate to think that she would have to go through all the meds too. But isnt it better to know from the very beginning rather than having to go through what we have had to go through....

Tatiana28 I am in the same boat with my GP - wouldnt prescribe meds to me as I am deemed to high a risk for them to monitor..therefore had to see Fertility Specialist who then referrred me to private GYN/OBS for assistance for first 12 weeks of pg. Meeting with him Monday week so will be interesting to see what his views are on the meds I want to take again. I would love not to take the Clexain injections either but would be afraid not to......

    to everyone else!!

    Hi there!!

I had a hycosy which told me that my left tube is blocked but my right tube, uterus and lining is perfect..

They told me that I don't have factor 5 but definitely mthfr...

We have given things a good go this month to ttc naturally before seeing the fs on 3/3...2 Drs have recommended that we do ivf because it bypasses your tubes but my Dh does not want to do ivf so I'm hoping that we fall naturally this month and that the fs will be able to help us keep Bubby in..

I'm feeling a real sense of calm at the moment..let's see what happens in 2 weeks..but for now I'm still taking my folic acid and aspirin..

I hope you are all well x
