Default Breastfed baby poo.. Smells soo bad.

I don't remember from my other kids... Is it normal for DDs poo to smell really bad

I don't think I have smelt a worse smell coming from a baby.

Her poo is normal mustard type baby poo for a breastfed baby.

The poos don't smell as bad though as her farts. She smells god awful.

Is this normal? She is well not sick anyway that I know of.

If it always smells really really bad (I liken the smell to rotten fish myself) then no, its not normal, it could be a virus, or tummy bug, or something more like an intolerance. It can also be the balance of good vs bad bacteria in the gut. Any other symptoms? Have you started solids yet? How long have they been going on? etc etc. So many questions! Sorry.

My DS2 has had really bad poos forever - he was formula fed, but its almost like - they were always so bad that I didn't really notice iykwim. He sees at Paed GI now.

I am experiencing same. My previous babies' poos were not offensive at all.. actually smelt quite nice. Maybe I'm remmebering when they were a bit older? I don't know but DD3 is 3 days old, does a poo seriously every hour minimum and the smell is very pungent.

I am interested to read re PP's thoughts that it could be a sign of something.... I don't remember my prev babies pooing quite so much or farting.. DD3 is quite settled etc but yeah the poos stink.

Both my breastfed babies did very smelly poos, green, mucusy and explosive as they have dairy and soy allergies if that helps. The smell is repulsive not sweet smelling like normal bf babies poos.

I certainly hope intolerances etc aren't the cause of DD3's smelly poos. She seems a little windier than I'd expect for 3 days... nothing dramatic, easily comes out and perfectly settled.

Good luck OP.. I dunno... hard to know whether its something to be concerned about if the baby is settled?

    Hey mrs n and op,
Both my babies are very settled and quiet babies so intolerances don't always cause unsettled behavior. The biggest culprit of intolerances is dairy so perhaps cut that from ur diet for a week and see if it makes a difference.

My baby's BF poo smelt sweet and lovely until she started solids. I hope you find a solution or it settles down. Is bub unsettled?

my dd2 was revolting, i remember wanting hubby to hold her at an engagement party when she was a few weeks old as there was no way people would believe it was her LMAO!
anyway our friends mother in law gave her a cuddle and dd dropped a loud one and it stunk.. i was happy to hold her after that as half the guests were shocked it came from her. atleast the secret was out haha

anyway the midwives told me its actually quite normal.. she was doing foul farts from day 1. i personally think it was an intolerance(as my other 3 never stank like that lol) as even now if she has milk look out! eek lol
her father has a milk intolerance as well. yuk!
