Default Help! Looks like a looong night ahead!

Poor 17 month old ds has been a bit out of sorts today... More whingy then normal and no appetite. Then on the way home from the shops he started projectile vomiting all through the car,, then again when we got home. I tried giving him some dinner which he vomited back up and a bit of water. He won't go down in his cot and he's currently playing in the lounge room n showing no signs of tiredness.... Should I give him a bottle? I'm thinking it will make him vomit again n maybe just water is best. He is allergic to dairy but he hasn't eaten anything unusual. I thought maybe the dairy free bread I usually get from the bakery might accidentally have dairy in it but I'm not sure. He prob just has a bug. This is our first stomach bug so I'm not sure what to do. I have a 3 month old as well so I'm hoping she doesn't get sick... Argh!

Does he have a temp? I'd start with the water then maybe try half a bottle when he starts to make tired signs. Maybe some panadol? Gosh sorry I'm no expert but that's what I'd try.

    Good luck

He feels warm but no temp... Could it be food poisoning from his grandmas leftover roast chick from xmas he had over 24 hours ago?

Sounds like how tummy bugs start at our place. Water is probably best and the easiset to clean up when it reappears if he does have a bug.

We just had a vomiting bug go through our place and it got everyone, DH, Myself,DS5 DS3 and DD1. Get some spew catchers ready(ice cream tubs) or heaps of towels is often easier with younger ones.

    Hope it's short lived.

Hi! Food is 2nd important most important is to keep his fluids up. If its really bad dr put them even on a diet for a few days. But as he plays u seem to be doing well. Do u have some hydralyte at home? I love it!! Also I always have some vomacur at home in case the vomiting is too bad. But as long as he plays let him and let his stomach have a rest for today! We had rota when mine was a year...

I would tend to think food poisoning would kick in sooner? But I'm not sure. Def just try with water and keep an eye on him. Maybe try a luke warm bath, I know that settles my DD down, not sure how it helps with an unsettled stomach but it makes her sleepy. Sorry for the lack of wisdom and sorry you may have a looooong nite ahead of you.

Thankyou and everyone else for the tips.... My poor ds!! I just want him to feel better, I hate seeing him sick and I just don't know what to do to help him and I'm also knackered myself from a sleepless night with him last night and dd the night before ...

Not as bad as I thought...ds cried a fair bit before bed and was trying to put his hands down his throat for some reason but only 1 more vomit. I just gave him water and a nice bath then dh sat with him till he fell asleep while I fed the baby. He slept a good 5 hours, then off on until morning. He has had a bottle and some toast this morning and doesn't want to cuddle anymore so he must be feeling better. so hopefully that is it... Now I have about 4 washing baskets full of vomit soaked washing to do and the car smells putrid.
Thank you for ur advice yesterday
