Default Anyone in private been refused an elective CS?

Or have I picked the one Ob who has???

Well she hasnt yet but gave me the whole "its not easier... recovery time, blood clots"... bla bla bla...

Im not sure if its the standard "talk" that she gives everybody that comes in and says they want an elective CS. She said its still early days and she did say " Im not saying no but there are a lot of things to be worked though first".

I have read a lot of your threads and it seems that nobody in private has had much trouble.... So I am guessing if I stick to my guns she may say yes??? I want time to find another Obs if it comes to that...... What do you think... will she or wont she????

I never had any problems getting my first elective c/s - I did tell my OB that I had done my research and whilst I knew that there could be more complications and longer recovery etc, I still wanted to go ahead with one, and asked if she would give me one for no other reason than because I wanted a c/s.

Hopefully she didnt actually say no, and just wants to give you more of a chance to think about it.

If you're really worried though, you could always ring around other OB's and flat out ask if they do maternal choice elective c/s and change OB's.

I did have an elective c section booked for my second but she decided to come early and hospital policy was for me to have an attempted vaginal birth.

You should also check hospital policies in regards to if you go early.

My ob said he thought I would be fine and talked about why he thought I should have a vb...I went to a psychologist, she wrote me a letter supporting me to get a cs, at about 25 weeks talked to the ob about it again and I didn't even need to pull out my letter.

I think to being with he was prepping me to have a vb because I'm sure they get plenty of people freaking out and want a cs, only to decide they want a vb.

Just stick to your guns.....They can't make you have a vb.

My OB wouldn't agree 'just like that' ... iykwim. He gave me literature to read, asked me to do my own research and wanted to know why I wanted one. We discussed it over a few appointments, it seemed like he wanted to be very sure I understood all the risks and he also wanted to understand my need for one.

I'm wondering how you went too, lilypie. I had the same experience as second time mumma and all worked out the way i wanted. Mind you, I asked the receptionist straight out if it would be ok when i booked the OB and also got a straight answer from OB at first visit. I wasnt taking any chances!

I actually went into labour early and had no problems getting an emergency c/s. Its not like the staff knew why i was having a c/s unless i told them. This was in the private system. I had my waters break and went into labour late at night though so there was some talk of me waiting til the next morning to have the c/s unless the labour came on fast... which it did so i got my c/s pretty quick especially as the OB was already at the hospital attending to someone else.

Hi girls... well we still have not put it back on the table. She said back at 15 weeks that we would discuss it at around 30w. Im now 27 weeks so I guess we will be discussing it shortly. After talking to my sister at christmas and seeing her boy on heavy medication to stop abcence sezsiurs (sp sp), she is all for my CS. She had a horrible birth with her first DS and he has a form of epilepsiy now and is on bipolar medication to stop them. Its just such strong drugs.

I am going to parenting classes just in case I go into early labour and Im working 7 hours form my hosiptal, but I am so in for this CS that I wont accept anything else.

    Will keep you all posted....
