Quartz, great news! When will your scan be?

Lindylou, thanks for posting the info on Hashimotos, very interesting! How are things going with the diet so far? Do you have a new cycle date yet?

Lifeonhold, how did your 2nd scan go? Grow follies grow!!

to all the Sydney gals, gorgeous autumn afternoon, I had a lovely walk through Centennial Park.

AFM, we had our cycle orientation today The details are a bit different to what I was expecting and still trying to get my head around it all, apparently there are many different types of array cycles but essentially Array PGD will check all 23 chromosome pairs from a single cell on all suitable day 3 embryos. Fresh transfer on day 5 of any normal embies that result Still terrified we won't get any

Have decided to take another week off leading up to EPU. It is going to be hectic with bts and scans every 2nd day that week anyway. Probably won't make any difference to the cycle outcome but will make alot of difference to how I feel about it!

    Have a great week all

Quartz – wonderful news, here’s too a smooth pregnancy from here onwards!

Crofty – hope your cycle is going well J

EO – hope your break is going well J Interesting about the NKcells and fish oil – I didn’t realise that and kept on with my supplements and my biopsy showed a borderline result – makes me wonder now whether it would have been higher?. Hilarious about the FS complimenting your DH on his appendiges. If there’s no DNA damage with biopsy why don’t they go straight for that??? Just curious. Sounds very promising.

Kellebelle- Wow Kellebelle you have been through the mill. Have you read Dr Alan beers book? May have some relevant info for you, i am just reading it now.

Traveler – hope all going well for you, when is your FET?

Starfish – Your cycle sounds v.thorough! I am sure alot to get your head around. I reckon a week off before EPU sounds like a good plan – no regrets then!

Lifeonhold – your name is very apt for us IVF’ers – hope your cycle is going well! Oestrogen of 1400 on day 6 sounds perfect to me – its hard when theres less follicles but its quality, quality, quality!

Nat – glad all is well, congrats on the weight loss! I wish i could shift my IVF 8kgs - tell me your secrets!! Hope engagement party plans are coming on well, what an exciting time!

Daisy – hope u have your meds sorted. Bugger about a further delay to starting too- v.frustrating.

Disney – welcome and good luck!

Lindylou – great to have some answers, your endo sounds great. The diet sounds strict but hey whatever works. Which FS are you seeing at SIVF? So glad you have a good endo Dr and a plan going fwd.

A big hello to anyone else I have missed. Bring on this beautiful weather, hope it lasts til Easter weekend

AFM – Sorry I have been MIA, have been recovering from the horror EPU and all got hammered by the flu too. Thanks for your kind words ladies, It took me a 1 ½ weeks to get my insides back on track – terrible reflux persisted for ages. Still feeling pretty down about two crap long cycles that produced crappy eggs. Had a chat with FS and requested we do day 2 bloods to see where I am at (egg quality & reserve wise), he wanted to do AMH again (– the 3rd time it will have been tested now) to see if its worth continuing – very scary. AF arrived last week and had the day 2 tests done – i was expecting them to be menopausal or something but they are my best ever results(well in the past year) – FSH 7.6 and Oestrogen low at 64 so now not sure what to think, seeing FS after easter to get the dreaded AMH.Thinking about other options too, all very emotional having those discussions.

Starf1sh- Diet is going OK so far. Usually my willpower with food is non-existent, but I seem to have no trouble this time. Perhaps because its expert advice from someone who's shown the first signs of taking me seriously! Ask again in 2 weeks and I'll be going nuts . No new cycle dates yet, hope to get that sorted when I see my new FS next Wed. Going by my natural cycle, CD1 for my next potential IVF would be 12th June. Great to hear you're taking the extra time off before EPU, any news on your follies yet? Seems like you've been cycling for ages already!

PinkB- No apology necessary, but nice to see you back on deck . My FS at SIVF will be Dr G Reid, have heard lots of good things about him and very excited about my upcoming appointment. FWIW- my naturopath doesn't place much stock in the AMH test. We all know the popular theory whereby us girls are born with ALL our eggs and we just run them down to nothing over our reproductive life. However, Sharkeys support a theory that we in fact regenerate the cells in our ovaries & follicles, and thus can create new eggs. Apparantly a follicle takes 8 menstrual cycles from formation to becoming a mature lead follie (much like sperm regenerates every 3 months). Not sure what studies they've based it on, but so far they haven't put a foot wrong in the advice they've given me. I tend to agree that if our body is madly regenerating 24 billion cells a day, why would it replace old cells with new everywhere except our ovaries & follicles? They make mention of a Harvard study, but I haven't googled that as yet to get the source data.

Quartz- hope bub is behaving him/herself and not giving you any more scares. I'm really hanging out for your scan!!

Hi to EO, Mrs Daisy, Nat, Traveler, Kellebelle, LifeonHold, & Crofty

AFM- nothing new to report. Just plodding along on my torturous diet and waiting til my FS appt next Wed. MIL and FIL are coming to stay over Easter so have been sprucing the house up, they arrive tomorrow sometime but I won't see them til I get home from bootcamp at about 8pm. Only 4 working days left til I leave for my USA trip, yikes! Better get cracking with my many to-do's...

    Hi ladies,

Hope everyone is excited about Easter, so good to be having an extra long weekend.

Lindylou: Wow you are a very strong women to be doing that type of diet. I wish you all the strength over the Easter period not to cave into the chocolate fix. Hope you have a great trip away, even though you are working, I hope you manage some time to take in your surroundings and enjoy them a little. Sounds like you have found an awesome FS and Dr who can really help out with your situation and go beyond the normal practices. I love hearing there are still Dr’s out there who are like that. You must feel so happy going into your next cycle armed with all this extra knowledge and support.

Pinkbutterfly: So glad to see you back here hon. I thought the same thing about the biopsy but FS wants to try and avoid that as the sperm retrieved from there is more fragile and has a higher rate of MC. Our new FS specialises in the sperm aspirations and reckons he can get some top quality stuff without having to do the biopsy. Can’t really provide too much advice about the hormone levels but my FSH on my last stim cycle was 7.6 as well. I have always wondered if that was good or bad as it’s the first time they had ever told me the number. I have done a lot of research about eggs and their quality and there is a really good website “Sher Reproductive Institute” and on there Dr Sher who is very well renowned for his expertise in IVF says they don’t place too much reliance on the AHM tests as he finds them to be unreliable and focuses more on the FSH and estrogen numbers. Have a look at some of the forums if you like, VERY interesting stuff as its direct from a Dr.

Starfish: So glad to hear everything is coming together for you hon on your next cycle. The PGD stuff is sooo fascinating, you must be very excited about it all. I totally agree about the extra time off. I have always taken extra time off when cycling and while I am not doing it will change the outcome, it just makes me so much better and less stressed about everything, which is definitely a good thing. I was reading an article this week that says stress does play a large role in IVF and its not just while you are cycling, stress can have a big impact up to three months prior to a cycle as that’s how long it takes for sperm and eggs to mature. I brought a “hippy” type CD from target the other day and loaded it onto my Ipod so for 15 minutes every day I listen to waterfalls/waves/soft Chinese type budda chants or whales. Sounds loopy but Saige told me to give it a go to help relax and not think about anything for those 15 minutes. Are you on any type of specific vitamins etc for this cycle?

Quartz: Oh darl that is fantastic news. Hope your able to relax a little bit now and enjoy being pregnant. Can’t wait to hear more good news after your scan.

Lifeonhold: I am only getting the Biopsy at this stage, my FS isn’t much for doing other things, he is very conservative. How are you going with your cycle? Sorry I am a bit behind in personals so lots has probably changed since your last post.

Hi to all the Sydney Girls.

AFM: Well AF is 2 days late, although I really wasn’t expecting her to be on time after a failed stim cycle. So just kicking back, not really phased that she is late, as its giving me and DH extra time for all our vitamins etc to kick in. I have to go and have BT from CD1 to monitor ovulation so once they pinpoint it I have my biopsy for NK cells 10 days after. It takes a few weeks for the results to come back. I am quite enjoying my break from IVF. I have stopped doing acupuncture as it’s a weekly reminder of IVF and I am only going do it again when I have my ET, plus its pretty damn expensive as our Private Health doesn’t’ cover it. Surprisingly so many people have commented to me in the last two weeks how relaxed and happy I look, I didn’t think it was that big of a difference but its nice to know the break is working. I know DH is super happy about the break as well as I will be the first to admit that I get TOTALLY consumed with IVF when I am doing a cycle and the rest of my world becomes a haze.

PinkB, did you get your AMH result back? Hope it was better news than mine! (see below)

Lindylou, yes it does feel like this cycle has been going forever and I haven't even started jabbing yet! Start March 1st with lucrin. I hope you have a great trip to the US, nice time of year to go! Let us know how you go with new FS next Wednesday.

EO, Glad to hear you are able to enjoy your break and soak up some of the benefits! You must look fabulous to be getting all those comments! Hope AF co-operates for you so you can get your testing underway soon. As for supplements, hmmm where to start? I have been taking chinese herbs for 6 months and quite a lot of stuff for egg quality since my last m/c (high dose fish oil, CoQ10, Royal Jelly, spirulina) and then the usual stuff prenatal multi, magnesium/calcium, zinc, vit C and E, and also probiotics...I think that's it??? Good idea to have a break from the acu when not cycling also and focus on other things... like eating lots of yummy Easter eggs!

On that note, have a wonderful long weekend lovely Sydney girls and a safe and joyous Easter with your loved ones

AFM, got my AMH results this afternoon and I am shocked by the change. Almost 12 months ago exactly it was 10.2 and today it is 4.2!!! Even more shocked because I have been on DHEA for 7 months which has been shown to improve AMH levels in some people, WTF!!! Trying not to be completely negative, who knows how the cycle will go, but it feels like another nail in the coffin for us having a biological child as a couple and I guess on top of the other issues we have faced I am now facing premature ovarian failure

3 years ago when I had just turned 33 I finally felt ready to be a mumma. I had only gotten married 18 months before, just completed a Masters, felt established in my career and had done many of things I wanted to do like live and work overseas and travel extensively. There is no point looking back, as I would not have been ready to have a child any earlier in my life than this but it feels really unfair, particularly when many of my friends didn't even start their families till they were in their mid- late 30's and fell easily...naturally of course!

Have an appt with FS week after Easter to talk about what it all means, but this long weekend I am going to enjoy a few vinos and of course plenty of chocolate!

    Hi Everyone,

I am new to BH but I have referred to it many times over my ttc time (5 years) for answers in difficult times. Well today is one of them. We are long time IVF'ers (first SIVF and have now been with Westmead Fertility clinic for a couple of years now).

Today I received devastating news and I guess I just need some support from women who have been through this roller coaster IVF ride and understand just how difficult and devastating it can be.

Today (at 11 weeks pregnant and fortnightly ultrasounds from 6 weeks) that our twins have not continued to develop. I am just devastated. A fortnight ago an egg sac was detected in one of them and today nothing. The only other pregnancy we had was over a year ago and that was a cornial ectopic. I am really considering an egg donor now... really thinking its due to poor egg quality (we never get any to freeze). Just don't know what to think at this stage.

    Any opinions??

Melrose – OMG I am devastated for you, that is just heartbreaking, so sorry to hear about your loss. Not sure what advice to give as I don’t know your history. What tests have you had done? Sending hugs for now.

Eternal Optimist- Interesting about the aspiration v’s biopsy – glad you new FS is confident about things. Thanks heaps for the website – that is one site I hadn’t found on my daily obsessive googling! I have just read about Dr Shers 60% success rate with people like me with POF so I am on a mission to find out more info. Glad the break is treating you well – it does wonders!

Lindylou – interesting info about eggs, I hope they are right for my geriatric eggs! How do find sharkeys? I haven’t tried them but have heard alot about them. Good on you with your diet, chocolate is my friend over easter then I must get serious again! Enjoy your weekend with family and have a great trip overseas.

Starfish – As I said on the 35’s thread, I am sooooooooooo angry with the universe/fertility gods for yet another blow for you, it truly isn’t fair.

It certainly doesn’t predict how your cycle will go but it is a confronting test – I am literally dreading my result (I am sure it <1). I can completely relate to everything you said – we try and do the responsible thing and wait til we are really ready to have a child and it just seems so unfair to be in this position now. I always think If I was as fertile , like 99% of my friends, I would’ve had time to have 4 children by now (since i started trying). Hard not to think about these things - all part of the grieving process (for our infertility) I am told.

    Just thinking...
    * Is AMH reliable whilst you are on the pill or meds for your cycle???

    * Have you recently had FSH/E2 day 2 tests as they are a predictor of quality rather than quantity?

    Thinking of you.

I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful weather this morning, we got to the beach while it was like summer – didn’t realise how hot it was going to be!

    Happy Easter to all

PinkButterfly - Can I ask you to clarify what you said about the day 2 FSH/E2 tests? Does it reflect the number or goodness of the eggs? (A small typo made your meaning unclear )
Have you got any numbers to act as a guide?

Hi Felicita, Ooops good pick - Amh tests quantity, FSH/ E2 is for quality generally - which one were you looking for numbers for?
