Quartz: Congrats honey on the BFP , about time we started to have some good news in our Sydney thread. They are great numbers too. You must be so excited and wanting to jump out of your chair at the conference.

PinkB: How are you going honey – hope your feeling better after the EPU .

Kelbelle: Awesome news about loosing the weight darl, I have heard that a good BMI does impact a lot on fertility. How did your appt go today with your FS? Did he offer any more insight about what he may be able to change?

Traveler: Hi darl, how’s things going for you?

AFM: We had our meeting with our new FS this morning, he was running an hour late. He is a real straight shooter and told us our chances etc without fluffing round. Basically he will do DH aspiration next cycle and while DH is still under GA the scientist will check his sperm under a standard microscope to check the quality and quantity and then if this is no good they will then do the Biopsy at the same time. He said sperm extracted via biopsy has no DNA damage as the damage is caused when it leaves the testes and travels through the epididymus (2 week process). He believes we can get some good quality and a decent amount from DH as DH has quite large testes and this is a good sign of the amount the testes can produce. DH was chuffed when the Dr told him he had big nuts . He then said it basically comes down to getting the right egg and a lot of the success will come down to the type of stimulation I have as well. So we will do a long down reg cycle this time to try and get some better quality eggs form me. He doesn’t want to use frozen sperm as it decreases the quality when thawing for testicular sperm. He did also say that sperm extracted by TESA and biopsy has a 5-10% higher chance of MC. So now its just back to waiting until our cycle in July and waiting for all the vitamins and herbs to kick in and do their thing.

Quartz, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Great numbers, this is your sticky one!

PinkB, sent you on a message on over 35's. Sending you more my love and hoping you are feeling better xx

Kellbelle, sounds like you have had a long road too All the best for FS appt next week, keep us posted.

EO, Sounds like a really positive visit to new FS and great news on the no DNA damage when the sperm is extracted that way, bonus! I wonder why they say there is a higher miscarriage rate though if DNA damage is not a cause?

AFM, EPU date in May has been pushed back another week, what's another week I guess in this eternal waiting process , but not looking forward to another week on the pill have not felt 'right' since starting it and suspect it is giving me headaches and upset stomach...and I haven't cycled in almost 6 months so I'm itching to get going!!
    to everyone else and sending

Quartz that's excellent news!!!!!! So what preg symptoms do you have looking back over past two weeks?

EO, great news on new FS, & glad DH has something to feel good about himself

StarF, one more week, well at least it's only one I suppose, but it's so frustrating.

Afm; not much. Had another friend announce she's pregnant. I was only upset for a split second. I must be growing have such a busy April which brings my next FET a little bit closer

EO - Glad to hear your appointment went well. At least it sounds as though he has given you something new to try and with that comes hope!! Dr Lok is not my FS but he did do my first EPU and transfer as my FS was away, I really liked him and found him really easy to talk to. Do you see him at SIVF in Liverpool?

Starfish - I hear you on the pill - I took it for 3 months before my first cycle and hated every minute of it, it made me feel horrible, headaches, bloated etc. Hope for your sake it's not too much longer!

Traveler - Looking back the only symptoms I can think of is the cramping I mentioned that I thought was AF on her way and tiredness - I keep feeling the need to have a nana nap in the afternoons for about a week before my BT

Kelbelle - Welcome!! I am so impressed with your weightloss, well done!!! I have spent the last 2 yrs trying to lose weight as I have PCOS but I only managed 10kgs in all that time!

to anyone I've missed - hope you are well!

AFM - Thank you for your congratulations - I am still a little shocked as I really thought this one was going to be a BFN! I am being a bit more proactive this time and have made an appointment with my FS next Weds to ask for him to monitor me more closely. I really want to be excited but it is so hard to let yourself get there! I have 2 days left of term and then a blissful 2 weeks holiday which couldn't be better timed - so looking forward to some rest and relaxation!

    Hello everyone

Most of you may not remember me but I joined this thread way back in dec (post number 15). I was taking a break from IVF till now and wasnt active on this forum during this break. I am now ready to start a new cycle and I will need some support to make it through this from you ladies.

I must say that its wonderful to get back on the forum on a day when a BFP is been announced. Congrats, Quartz! I am really happy for u. I remember you from another forum a long while ago.

I am starting an antagonist cycle. My first blood test is tomorrow. Can't say I am excited as this is all so familiar.

There are so many familiar names in this forum and I am looking forward to sharing all your journeys.

Have a good evening ladies! Take care!

PS will do some personals wen I have caught up with all the pages on this thread.

Quartz -so pleased to see a positive. Hope everything stays well for you

Pink Butterfly - Sorry to hear your changes have not had a positive result. I am almost looking at a similar situation, and really feel for you.

Eternal Optimist - Glad to hear you had a good catch up with the FS. Sometimes a face to face chat can be very reassuring, and even more so when a plan is in place

Starfish - It won't be long and that week will have passed.

Life on Hold - I too have only joined recently for extra support. Wishing you well

AFM - My meeting yesterday with FS was as I expected. He feels one more cycle and if it hasn't worked then we really need to move on with our lives. He knows couples that just don't give up, and all of a sudden their adult life has passed them by.

I had Ulcerative Colitis when I was 23, (now 38)and ended up having my bowel removed. I had a temporary colostomy bag, and had further surgery in 1997 to get reconnected. The FS thinks this is a major factor for IVF not working (4 stim cycles and 5 FET) I am going to take more regular IBS supplements to hopefully improve things. The only thing he suggested we do different was a hysteroscopy with a D&C. He likened it to 'raking the grass to encourage the grass to grow' so that hopefully it will implant - which has never happened yet.

His scales actually showed a 16kg weight loss since Nov 2009, so I am pleased with that. He won't test for NKC as I am already being treated with Clexane anyway, which is the primary drug used should I test positive. The antibiotics I am allergic to, and prednisone is just plain nasty (took that when I had UC)

I finished work at the end of January, as I was under too much stress so I thought that was a major factor. My theory is that the follicles were developing 90 days prior when I was under the most pressure (lead up to Xmas) but FS said there hasn't been any studies done regarding stress prior to commencing the ivf, only that during ivf if you are highly stressed that the chances were less. He is looking at starting a program similar to the 'fitness for fertility' to do with the mind and body - so yoga, pilates, acupuncture...all aimed at reducing stress levels. So it must play a big role or he wouldn't bother with it.

Sorry for the long rant, I am really just at a loss at the moment. Being told this should be your final go is something I am struggling to cope with, despite how sensible he sounds.

TTC since Oct 2004 IVF #1 Jan 2009 BFN, FET #1 BFN, FET #2 BFN, IVF #2 July 2009 BFN, FET #3 BFN, then changed FS and clinic, cancelled cycle, IVF #3 Aug 2010 BFN, FET #4 BFN, FET #5 (x2 blast) BFN, FET #6 (x2 blast) BFN, IVF #4 Feb 2011(x2) BFN

    Hi Girls,

Been out of the office again, so have quite some catching up to do!

Quartz- So happy to see you got a BFP!! Congrats sweetie, and please please please stay sticky little one.

PinkB- I hope you are recovering OK after such a dreadful cycle. I am so devastated for you, really thought this protocol with all its bells and whistles would be the magic combination .

Starf1sh- the CHG info was fascinating. Love that the test is done on the 'waste' cells so as not to actually impact the developing embie. I hear you on the itching to get going! Hope your side effects from the pill have subsided by now.

Kelbelle- Welcome to our thread! Gosh, we started TTC around the same time, its not often I see someone in the 6yrs + club. Well done on losing the weight! I can't believe your FS would say that you should quit after one more cycle, that is SO much pressure to put on you. Not fair if you ask me. Regarding clexane, that is given to treat blood clotting factors, not NK cells. It may be worth going back on prednisone (however nasty) if this is going to be your last attempt... I'd be throwing in everything but the kitchen sink.

Crofty- Hows the jabbing going? Hope there's a great batch of eggs to come.

EO- you're very welcome (re: the PM). You must be so excited after your meeting with Dr Lok, some really promising news there and sounds like he's the right man for the next aspiration/biopsy. I cracked up when I read about your DH's big nuts , good for him! That would be a huge compliment coming from a bloke who's seen more than his fair share of balls.

Traveler- How have you been? Do you have a month set for your next FET? Well done on handling the preg announcement without getting upset! You must be one tough cookie!

Lifeonhold- nice to see you back! Yay for starting a new cycle, hopefully the last you'll need for a long time.

Hi to MrsDaisy, Nat and anyone I've missed

AFM- work is chaotic at the moment! I've done 4 audits in the past 3 weeks and have fallen behind quite badly since that equals 8 days out of the office . Trip arrangements for the USA are pretty much finalised now, I'll be gone from May 2nd to 21st. I have about 6 weeks worth of work to try and cram into 3 so I'm up-to-date before I travel. My long-awaited endo appointment is next Wed , just hope this specialist is NOT going to be one of those stick-in-the-mud traditionalists who will tell me I don't need any treatment for thyroid antibodies. However, I am going armed with journal articles and my *don't-mess-with-this-long-suffering-infertile-or-feel-my-wrath* attitude

    Have a nice weekend all

Hi all! Just popping in to let you know I'm still here lol....

A huge congrats to quartz! That's awesome news sweetie!!

Welcome to kelbelle and welcome back to lifeonhold.

Well, had an appt with my FS a couple of weeks ago. All went well, just waiting (still) for my HCG to hit zero. I'm sitting on about 15 at the moment so I'm nearly there. Wirh my next period, I've got to take Clomid to pinpoint ovulation.. Then when I test positive for O on a urine test, I've hot to go and see him 7-10 days later for an NK cell biopsy. After that, with the next period I can go ahead with a FET. I'll be using Clexane wirh my FET whether I'm positive for the NK cells or not. So pretty excited that it'll go ahead soonish..

Less than 4 weeks till engagement party! Busy planning that!

And, we just put a holding deposit on a house!! Just got to wait out the 7 day cooling off period while they do the necessary inspections and whatever else they do. So hopefully be in our new house just before FET. SO excited cause my DF said I can bring all my brand new baby things inside (instead of stored in the garage!)

2 of my friends announced they were pregnant last week on the same day. One was going thru ivf due to severe endo, and the other one had already done ivf, but got a chem preg on a FET.. Then fell naturally! I'm SO excited for them both and I cannot wait to jump on the bandwagon!! Haha, I'm considering taking the pill in another week or so to bring on my period... But I'll think about that.

Oh. And I'm on an awesome diet, and have lost 6.3kg in just under 3 weeks!! Woohoo!!

Hope you are all well... I'll be able to do more personals when I get time tk get to a computer!

    Take care everyone xo
