Default Do you believe that being Gay is a choice or born with like it?

Do you believe that gay people are born that way? Or do you think its a choice?

And if you think its a choice, when did you choose to be hetrosexual?

I believe sexuality is determined by many things... genetics, life experience, etc. I think very often, in regards to homsexuality and heterosexuality, it's probably just part of who you are born.. I remember being fascinated by boys from the age of 4-5 or so? Like I would be more aware of sitting near a boy in class but not notice if it was a girl.

HOwever I also do know women who have entered into lesbian relationships after having abusive relationships with men, so maybe life experience is a factor too (as it is in all relationships though)

I think it's nature rather than nurture but I believe nurture does come into play as to how we identify ourselves. Not sure how to explain that, I believe sexuality is fluid, I identify as hetero but under different circumstances might have homosexual feelings or experiences if that makes sense. So although I would be inclined to say people are born gay or straight rather than 'choose' it, I don't really think it's that straight forward.

As for when did I choose to be hetero, I didn't really, it was assumed, and I believe is usually assumed and that's why people think being gay is a 'choice', coz that person us bucking assumption.

Sorry I don't know if any of that makes sense but I know what I mean!!

I voted other for this reason.

I believe some are born knowing. I think some are influenced by life experiences. Etc. I just dont know what I think?

For the majority I believe it is the way they are born but I do believe for a few there are other factors involved (like the example outlined by MrsN)

I think people are born gay, but I do think that there are always exceptions to the rule. I think sometimes you can fall in love with a person and that may be a same-sex relationship. Like another poster said, you may choose it if you have had abusive relationships etc.

I couldn't say ALL gay people are either or.

They are all individuals and sexuality 'can be' an evolving process or it 'can be' an innate sense depending on the individual.
