Default Anyone one interested in a Canberra weekend playgroup?

Is there anyone out there who would be interested in a Canberra weekend playgroup for single parents? I'd be thinking of meeting every 3-4 weeks, and maybe go to playgrounds, botanic gardens, museum, whatever else works with kids but won't drive parents who may not have their kids with them crazy.

I'm finding my partnered friends are all busy on weekends doing family stuff, and it would be nice for my kids to have outings sometimes with other people, and for me to have some grown-up chat. I'm sure there are others in the same situation, but are you in Canberra? I thought it is worth putting feelers out there, never hurts to ask. If you are interested, stick a message here or PM me, and if we get some interest I'll set something up. My girls are 3 and 5, but I think a range of ages would be just fine.

Wish we could... but we're on the Gold Coast.

Does the Benevolent Society run a child & family centre in your area? There are a couple here and I'm fairly sure they have a dropin thingy on Sat mornings as well as having a weekend playgroup.

I hate to keep baging on about it..but the second sunday single parent's playgroup on facebook has members in several states. Happy to make people admins if they want to organise events elsewhere. There's been one Brisbane/Gold Coast catch up I think and there are some Syndey people too.

thanks single pregnant chick. I looked at the group on facebook, but decided it was too public for me. I don't use my real name on the internet, as I'm into privacy and on facebook I keep all my settings to maximum privacy. Just decided I didn't want to have my real name on a group which anyone can join on facebook, advertising I'm a single mum and live by myself. My name is pretty distinctive, it would be easy for any weirdo to find me in a town my size. So great initiative, but a little too public for me. I suppose I could join facebook with a different name, now that could work I suppose.

    Hi there
I am moving to Canberra in January 2012. I know the messages are now quite old, but I would like to join a playgroup / meet some other single mums. Please let me know if your playgroup is up and running, and if myself and my three children can join you one day!
