    Default Worried about my baby.

    Hi,
I am 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I have started to have a fair bit of nausea and I am constantly tired. 2 days ago, I started to have a small amount of brown spotting, that later on turned a light pink-ish colour. Now, it's red like period blood, but no clotting and not heavy enough to be a miscarriage. My sister now has a four month old, healthy baby boy, and she informed me that when she found out she was pregnant, she was 5 weeks, and 3 weeks before that she got her period.
So she got her period at two weeks pregnant, could it be possible that I am just having my period?
And I also have a slightly bigger stomach as usual, is that normal at 5 weeks? As I am usually very thin.

Any help would be fine, as this is my first baby.

I've heard it's common to have a little bit of bleeding at the start. I've having my first too, but I've been lucky enough to not have bleeding.

Are you having cramps as well?

IMO - anything where blood is red and more than a few spots would be worth a trip to a doctor or hospital. They might do a scan and see what they can see.

Not to upset you, but sometimes you can get what's called a 'blighted ovum' where a fertilised egg implants but does not develop. My GP warned me because I got my so early on that this may still happen.

I really hope that you (and your bub) are okay.

The only type of bleeding that I have heard of that is normal, is spotting. So I'm kind of worried, but hope this can be normal too.

I have had some cramping, but only mild.

I am going to try get to a doctor soon, as I have no way to get to one, but a blood test is in order for my next visit. Will this let me know if I did start to miscarry?

I also got an early positive, so I may need to talk to my doctor about that. And discuss wjat could happen, as he did not explain anything like that to me. :/

Thankyou for your help so far.

at 5wks it could be an implantation bleed and is perfectly normal.

Most doctors/midwives advise that bright red blood needs to be checked out though so I'd head up to the hospital or doctors when you can just in case.

Bleeding is very common in early pregnancy, and your large belly is most likely bloating which is also really common.

I bleed with my last baby at around 6 weeks, it was only lightly but all was fine.

Not much they can do at this stage, other than blood tests - now and in a few days to see if your HCG levels are rising. I bled throughout my first trimester with both of my happy, healthy kidlets

I agree that it would be implantation bleeding. I had a small amount of brownish blood/discharge which I just thought was the start of my period (we wern't trying), it lasted 2 or 3 days.

I agree that anything bright red should be checked out.

    good luck xoxo

    Thankyou all.
The amount of blood is close to a period amount, that's why implantation has never occurred to me, because from what I've learned, implantation is just some spotting, this is more than that.

and to Ohlala, is pregnancy bloating normal and nothing to worry about?

I will go to the doctors as soon as possible, I'm hoping to go tomorrow so I can stop worrying, for the bubs sake.

Yep I think if I recall right its due to your body slowing how quickly you digest food so it gets everything out of it.
