induction at 36 weeks

my dr and ob/gyn want to induce me at 36 weeks due to high blood pressure. im 33 weeks at the moment and i am PETRIFIED. this is my 4th. any tips on how to prepare myself and ease my nerves? im losing sleep over the impending birth...

Hi hun, have you studying hypno/calm birthing? they have a lot of relaxing techniques that have been helping me when I get anxious (obv I'm not in your situation though).

There are also lots of great induction stories on here from girls who have had really good birthing experiences.

I wasnt induced with DD2 but she arrived at 36weeks she was in SCN from wednesday night just after her birth at 7.30pm and was out at 3am the saturday just needed an oxygen boost was allowed to take her out for cuddles and the sunday night the day b4 she went home they gave her jaundice treatment. Some babies born at 36weeks go home the next day so each and every bub is different

i had a 35 weeker she had a few feeding problems that were corrected in 3 days of birth.she was very sleepy for 3 +months and was under the lights for jaundice for 4 days! I had 2 37 weekers 1 was induced,induction and birth were pretty good/not much different from natural birth! She spent 4 hours in nicu for possibly swallowing amniotic fluid/infection?then lost far more weight than reccomended so i went back to hospital cause my milk supply had dried up a bit i rebuilt milk supply, she was fine

I was induced at 36 weeks ds was born weighing 2.4 kilos, spent a few hours in scbu and then roomed in we went home on day four on day 7 a domiciliary mw came gor our first home visit and ds wasnt waking for feeds and was very lethargic and was down to 2 kilos. He had bad hypothermia even though he was soo rugged up. He ended up being readmitted to scbu and required incubation and was gavaged he was in hospital for two and a half weeks. He had major problems regulating his temp for
quite a while. Having said that some babies have no problems and go home with mum.

Dont stress too much about the induction process being your 4th bub. I was induced with no. 1 and 2 and I have one suggestion - have the gel, have the ARM (waters broken) but then ask them to leave you alone for a little while (1-2 hours) to see if you can get contractions going on your own - I did this with my second birth and it was heaps better than having the drop. The drip is the evil bit of induction.

My DD was born at 36 weeks after PROM the day before. I was induced also and had a very quick (but very intense) labour. Contractions came on gradually over an hr or so then just hit me one on top of the other and I dilated very quickly. This was my third bub but second Labour and vaginal delivery.

DD was 2.4kg and perfectly healthy apart from some Jaundice that developed. She didn't need to spend any time in SCN... I just had to ensure she was fed three hrly due to her birth weight and they checked her blood sugars for about 12hrs post birth (by order of the SCN Dr's). I was able to have skin to skin immediately after she was born and she took to the breast straight away. I had initially wanted to go home the 4hrs after the birth (assuming i had a full term bub) and my Midwife asked me if this was still the case but I opted to stay. She was born on the Monday and we were home Wednesday.
