    Default My, how things change!

    Bit of a sook here...

Before and all the way through my pregnancy the idea of BF was, I'm sad to say now, really daunting and a bit weird..... But I was going to give it a go for DDs sake....

4 weeks in... I'm loving it! And am facing some issues now that may possibly lead to us stopping and I honestly am so upset at the thought....

Even though I bought bottles and everything JIC during my pregnancy because I didn't seen bf happening and I Sussed out the best formulas to try if need be....

    I don't want to!!!! :'(

My boobs are so so sore and I just don't want to even think about it anymore

that you are loving it and bugger that there are problems!!! Is it mastitis/blocked ducts/cracks? For cracks/over-use - lol, wool fat is GREAT for healing, as is hand expressing a little milk onto your nipple and lots of air-drying. Hope it eases soon so you can continue!

well done, such a lovely story to hear WHat sort of issues are you having hun? I had a really hard time for the first 6 or so weeks, then all of the sudden one day it just clicks and starts working and all the issues are like a tiny blip on the radar. The persitance is soooo worth it, there were many times I considered chucking it all in especially with the toe curling pain I experienced (bleeding nipples etc), I was literally in tears over the pain! Keep talking about it, utilise advice and use the services of thee ABA or lactation consultant if you need to!!

The sore boobs I'm pretty sure is thrush - been treating for a week and i recon it's getting worse but I am facing some unrelated health concerns which may result in me being on medication unsafe for breastfeeding for a while

Hydrogel pads - I've seen these and actually have a sample in my drawer, is this safe to use if I do have nipple thrush does anyone know??

We have been going so ace with the bf and the nipple/boob issues have only been happening this week but on top of everything else.... Grrrrrrrrrr!!!! After the bloody sh1t pregnancy I was supposed to be allowed to enjoy this bit!!!! *sigh*

Expressing - unfortunately no it will be quite a long treatment of this unsafe medication if I do need it so it wouldnt be feezible

I saw my midwife last week about a super painful let down and she mentioned thrush, I didnt think much of it til my nipples started to feel hurty so seeing her again later today and making an appointment for the gp too....

My main issue is I don't want DD to get it in her mouth or on her bottom, i can deal with it but I'd hate her to be in pain

Chances are if it's thrush bubba already has it, from what I know you'd both need to be treated anyway. Funnily enough, I got thrush just after we finished breastfeeding and OMG it was painful!! I can't imagine how much worse it woud have been if ds had of still been feeding. BUT I just used one of those thrush creams and it cleared up within a few days. I'd be making a doc or lactation consultant appointment and go from there. ABA will definitely be able to help as well
