Wow, it is busy in here.

Mum4nay - You have a lot going on. A cycle and the start of the PED process too. Heaps of luck

Trying - Good luck with your scan

Dr Mummy - Thanks for dropping in. Your post was incredible. It sounds like bubba is going really well and it is really nice to be so far along now. Ex's can be so painful when they choose too. I'm sorry DH wasn't invited to the wedding. You'd think his daughter would be adult enough to make her own decisions about her special day, as her mother clearly isn't going to change. Still, I'm sure DH will see her just before the wedding.

Sabah - How is the 2WW going. It is sooo long sometimes Good luck!

Pinky - There is no telling how long a cycle will take. Our bodies seem to do their own thing. Hopefully the eggs are getting lots of goodness into them while they take their time growing

Slinky - Heaps of for this IUI. A couple of juicy follies would be wonderful.

Starf1sh - This cycle is really exciting and promising with the PGD able to give you extra insight. It's wonderful that you have backup via your sister if needed too I look forward to cheering you on

Spot - Where are you at? Having a break or gearing up again? This rollercoaster is really exhausting after a while

'Hi' to Always, Melk, Heiro, JFB, Pearl and anyone else I've missed

AFM - I have been dealing with The World Egg Bank after not finding another local donor in the last 4 months. They told me that you get 8 eggs fertilised (ICSI) and they guarantee at least 1 blastocyst gets frozen and sent (but won't guarantee it thawing successfully). I chose my donor and asked about the cycle and timelines and the contact 'Penny' said the donor is available now (and agreed to ID Release to meet Australian laws which is important to me), She said we could 'move forward' as soon as I paid and returned the signed and witnessed consent forms to her.

That was in mid March and I arranged everything that week. It's $22,300 USD for the cycle and to send the frozen embryos to Australia (QFG clinic in Brisbane). It cost around $23,500 AUD to do it all as the banks don't give you the market rate for USD and charge you a commission. Then I didn't hear anything for a week (after TWEB confirmed theyd received dollars and documentation). So I emailed them asking for dates, and they told me that the donor will be cycling in JUNE!!! I was so peed off as they said they were 'prescreened' and they use an antagonist cycle so why the 3 mth wait (all of April, May, and most of June)? I asked Penny, and Penny came back and said they did tests on the donor and when I asked why she said they didn't do all the necessary testing at the start because of the cost. That was news given their promotions of having 'available, extensively prescreened Donors'. Then she mentioned a down reg cycle after telling me they use Antagonist cycles when I asked weeks ago. So the story had changed. The donors are in their early 20s, so I don't think the clinic would choose to do Down Regs. But what do you do? They have all the money up front and have you locked into a contract. Just some information for you girls, in case you ever want to look at OS options. So I won't have any sort of result until July at the earliest. I'm so sick of waiting, but we are used to it aren't we.

    Have a wonderful weekend

    Millie

Well hello gorgeous ladies. I have been a bit naughty hiding away but have popped in occasionally and have read a few pages.

Hope you are all doing well, we need some bubbling BFP action in here!

Well a lot has been happening for me, and for once not IVF related…sigh. I had an odd migraine 4 weeks ago, slurring words and tripping over, went to the doctor who sent me off for a MRI of my brain. It has come back showing white matter disease/damage of an old person, and that I have had a few minor strokes. I am off to see the neurologist on April 14 to see what is happening.

I have read though that migraine sufferers, (I have had them since I was 14) get that damage to their brains from the migraines.

Pffftttt… my husband has kindly offered to learn how to do my make up so when I am all batty he can help me. Nawww.

Anyway have decided this will not stand in my way of IVF so on Monday I am going to book into to see Lyndon and ideally do a cycle on my next period due end of April! Decided not to look into DHEA given all what is happening and just see how I go, as I think the numbers just need to fall into place for us.

Millie – hang in there, you are going to be one special mummy!

Spot – far out! Sending hugs, what a strong lady you are.

Sabah – Everything is crossed for you lovely

AFM – Had EPU on Friday and got 4 eggs of which 3 were mature so we were happy with that. I asked were the eggs grainy and yep just as they were with the last down reg they were grainy. I knew nothing good would come of this but still gutted to learn none fertilised. So looks like its pretty much over for us. Changing FS and protocols has done us no good, neither has the DHEA and extra goodies. Going from an A grade expanding blasty last Oct to 2 crap cycles is fairly gut wrenching but we are coping OK. This has all been the least of my worries with a poor reaction to the EPU/ anaesthetic, i have been really sick with nausea and my bladder and bowel went into shock, bladder got working yesterday and finally this arvo hopefully my bowel is showing signs its on the way back. I have been in so much pain, only able to eat/drink a little even then with reflux. It hasn’t been a very fun few days. Not impressed by the lack of follow-up even with phonecalls. Anyway better get some more rest in, thinking of you all.

    Hello ladies

Wow - a number of you have had major things going down.

PinkB - I am so sorry to hear what you've been going through. The outcome of this cycle is devastating news. Your terrible reaction to the EPU adds insult to injury. It is extraordinary to hear that you and DH are coping OK. You're incredibly strong, and really to be admired. Take very good care of yourself physically while you recover from the EPU, and lots of TLC for yourselves as you absorb where you've got to and work out what next. Thinking of you

Spot - far out, as others have said - as if you haven't already been through enough. Hope you get some answers from your appt with neurologist.... Again, hats off to you though for not letting things get in the way of IVF. Gearing up to cross everything for you.

millie - unbelievable stuff you're having to put up with. Just not fair!!! Lots of 'taking care of you' stuff to be had over the next few months.

mum4nay - perhaps this short cycle will work a treat and the donor thing won't be necessary for you

drmummy - brilliant news that bubby looking perfetto. Hope you are loving your newly rounded tum and revelling in that glow.

sabah - hang in there hon, just a few days to go now til Thursday. Gets harder the closer it gets though. Everything crossed into pretzel shapes for you

trying4two - trust all going well for you lovely. Not tooooo many days now til Thursday. Thinking of you

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Strange week last week with the IUI. All week it seemed that things were moving pretty slowly. Had scan on Thursday morning, which showed TWO follies - one at 13mm and one at 15mm (on 37.5 of Gonal-F). But E2 and LH only moving up fairy slowly. Back in for another BT on Friday morning, expecting that 'treatment' might happen Saturday or even Monday (we were heading away for the weekend). Get a call at 11am Friday morning telling DH to get in there immediately as my E2 had gone up to 1800 and LH was starting to surge. So he did as he was told and they did the AI a short while after that. Spoke to nurses about why follies were still so small - a bit worried that the Gonal-F created two small/immature eggs instead of one dominant one. But not a lot we can do about it in any case. The scientist again said that while DH's swimmers 'look good', the count is definitely low and better suited to IVF/ICSI. So not holding out a whole lot of hope but glad we've done this AI cycle. Still mulling over clinic options but starting to think we will switch to Sydney IVF for an ICSI cycle, assuming this IUI doesn't work.... Because I didn't end up having a trigger, if there's any HCG in the BT on Friday it can only mean one thing. Am grateful for that - was going to ask not to have HCG tested so early after getting low (trigger-related) levels on that early BT last two cycles, which really does your head in.

Millie - how unbelievably frustrating. I hope that it all comes together for you ASAP

Spot - I hope that the neurologist has some good news for you and can put your mind at ease (sorry for the pun ). I am also a migraine sufferer and it is something that is always playing on my mind, especially as I'm very sensitive to my mobile if I use it directly rather than on hand-free. Good luck for your up-coming cycle

PinkB - I'm so sorry that this cycle did not work and that you are feeling so many side-effects just to top it off I hope that you get some feed-back from your FS soon.

Slinky - good that you don't have to wait too long. that your eggs release perfectly and that DH's wrigglers do their thing

Sabah - I hope you've been able to take it easy this cycle and not work too hard. for you.

Mum4nay - yippee for a new cycle I hope it goes smoothly for you. that your PED appointments all go really well but are totally unnecessary for the best possible reason

    Have a wonderful week everyone.

PinkB, I'm so sorry to hear that things have worked out like this for you and that your EPU was so horrific Did you have a different anaesthetic this time? Have said before I am not a fan of that particular day surgery and not surprised by lack of follow up but would've thought clinic might have been more proactive? I was so pleased intially to read that 3 out of those 4 were mature but then shocked to hear they were all grainy, that really sucks Looks like you were absolutely right and long down reg is not the way to go for you. I hope between the scientists and FS you get some answers ASAP. Wishing you a speedy recovery, you are in my thoughts.

Millie, soooooo frustrating!!! Great to hear though that the ED cycle is underway (even if it just involves the exchange of the big biccies, surely thats bound to motivate them! ) Keep us posted on how things are moving along, I'm really excited for you!

Mum4nay, all the best for your cycle and your PED meetings this week (wow what a lot to take in a once!)

Spot, that sounds quite frightening! All the best with your results and for your upcoming cycle.

Trying, few more days to go till scan!!

Slinky, Lucky you can be flexible hey!! Can just imagine your DH racing across town to make his vital contribution! Big Congrats on being PUPO!!! Which clinic are with you now Slinky?

Sabah, reaaaaaally hoping this is your cycle gorgeous

Great to hear all going well Melk and Drmummy

AFM, EPU date in May has been pushed back another week, what's another week I guess in this eternal waiting process , but not looking forward to another week on the pill have not felt 'right' since starting it and suspect it is giving me headaches and upset stomach...and I haven't cycled in almost 6 months so I'm itching to get going!!
    to everyone else and sending

PinkB- I hope you get everything working again soon. I can imagine you must be frustrated. Hope the docs can give you some answers and good news soon.

Spot- Hope all goes well with the neurologist. I've never had a migraine, but my mother suffers from them, so I know all about them. Keep strong and stay focussed. Wishing you well.

Dr Mummy- I'm sure you and DH are so excited to be meeting bub soon. From what I've read, you guys deserve to relax and enjoy the rest of the pregnancy and bub when it arrives.

Slinki- Hope the 2 lil' follies are real big fighters for you and very sticky to boot.

Starfish- Maybe the extra week will make all the difference and you have a fabulous result.

Sabah- I've absolutely everything so you get excellent news.

Millie- That's not fair that you have to pay upfront and wait so long. Wish I could give you a few eggs. Let's hope they are worth the wait.

Mum4nay- Hope you got your scripts ok. Goodluck with the short cycle.

Hello to everyone else here. Hope you are all well.

AFM: I am seeing the endocrinologist tomorrow at RPAH. And thank goodness it's bulk billed. I spent $560 last week on specialists alone.
I'm not sure what to do as DH and I have our first nursing appt booked in for this thursday, but the FS said I need to sort out the TSH issue with my thyroid first. I tried to call her last week but no answer. I figure we'll go regardless as DH has taken that day off work to go. I hope it explains why my weight gain from the accident was so much and why my hair has thinned over the last few years. It kind of makes me a bit mad that they picked up a thyroid abnormality almost 18 motns ago and it wasn't thoroughly investigated. It could have been sorted by now.
Anyway, last night while showering I found a lump in my left breast, so am a bit worried. I'm about mid cycle so am hoping it will go by period time. If not, that's another issue.
Good news is the cardiologist has given me all clear for the IVF/ICSI to start. Still just an electrical twitch in the ticker but shouldn't kill me any time soon. LOL

    Keep well.
    Daisy
