I got my princess after 2 boys and this is what I did.

DTD 3 full days prior to Ov, no org.asm, ate lots of yogurt plus a calcium and magnesium tablet. I was also taking a couple of Vit C tabs a day as I had a cold. Don't know if my increased temp had anything to do with it, but so badly wanted pink I would have done the vit c anyway.

Good luck! I read through all the in-gender stuff on conceiving a girl - and decided it was too hard! Picked a few bits I could do easily and went with that. Got my pink!

Hi I had this written up for some others who had asked for it so please excuse the layman's terms and I hope you can just take what you need from it....Oh and if it works for you feel free to pass this out and get this info out there lol

Background: After having 3 boys my husband and I had pretty much given up hope of having a girl. While working as a community Registered Nurse, I met a lady who had 4 children (now in their 30-40’s). She had had 3 boys then a girl. She stated that she had applied to be in a trial run by a obgyn at the RBWH over 30 years ago that looked at trying to change the p.H. levels of a woman’s body (namely the cervical mucus, the mucus surrounding the ova and the environment of the vagina) to make the egg more receptive to either the X or Y sperm. This thesis also hinges on the premise that the different sperm live longer, move easier and are more attracted to either an acidic or alkaline environment. The lady that I spoke to said that she was in a group of 4 women who had all had 3 offspring of the same sex. Each woman then went on a strict diet for a minimum of 6 weeks prior to conceiving to change their p.H. levels. This poor woman had to drink 2-3 litres of milk per day lol. All 4 women supposedly got the offspring that they desired.

So, I did a bit of research, combined this with some other methods and gave it a try. Here’s what I found out and did religiously for over 6 weeks prior to trying to conceive:

    Diet:
For a girl you are required to eat a diet high in calcium (Ca2+) and magnesium (Mg2+) for at least 4-6 weeks prior to conceiving to make the p.H. of your body more acidic. For boys, your diet needs to be higher in sodium (Na) and potassium (K). This makes the body more alkaline. You need to limit the unwanted minerals/chemicals (for the opposite sex) from your diet. As stated above, this is thought to change the ionic balance of the body, which affects the chemical makeup of the egg and vaginal secretions. I found it was a lot easier these days. While I did alter my diet (drastically reducing salt in cooking, swore off banana's and tried to stay away from processed foods) to achieve a diet high in calcium and magnesium I just purchased supplements and then doubled the daily intake, taking one lot in the morning and one lot at bed. Its a good idea to begin folic acid supplements now as well.

While you are altering your diet for the minimum 6 weeks, you should also use this time to observe, document and determine your ovulation cycle. This is quite IMPORTANT. If required, some ovulation predictors can be used. Once you know your dates inside and out you are ready for the next step.

    Shettles Method:
Shettles method theorises that there are male and female sperm. The male sperm are faster but die quicker, while the female sperm move slower but are longer lasting. Therefore, you need to have sex closer to ovulation for a boy (so they can get there quickly) and further from ovulation for a girl (so the boy sperm have all died).

For girls: Having intercourse daily from day of end of menstruation up until 4 days before ovulation. Have intercourse again 2 days prior to ovulation. You then should abstain from any further intercourse. Avoid deep vaginal penetration (takes longer for the sperm to get where they are going giving the male sperm more time to die). The man should ejaculate at the opening of the vagina. Women should not orgasm or become to aroused as this causes an increased release of vaginal secretions which cause the vagina to become more alkaline and therefore more receptive to the male sperm. Would suggest just using small amount of water based lubricant and doing the ‘deed’ quickly. (Foreplay just for him is a big plus here).

For boys: Abstain from sex from menstruation right up until 1 day prior to ovulation. Then, have intercourse daily from 1 day before ovulation to over a week after. Can continue right up to menstruation. Deep vaginal penetration is preferred so that the male (Y sperm) arrive first at the egg. Female orgasm is recommended as it increases secretion of vaginal fluids which both speed the sperm on their way faster and make the environment more receptive the the male sperm.

    Douching:
Its thought a more acidic vaginal environment is more conductive to conceiving a girl as boy sperm are thought to prefer a more alkaline environment and may be damaged by the excess acid. You should douche with a weak vinegar or lemon juice solution prior to intercourse to increase the acidity of the vagina. Douche with a weak bicarbonate solution for conceiving a boy.

As I mentioned before, I followed this religiously for just over six weeks before conceiving our little princess. It may have been the diet, the timing or all of the above, or I may have just gotten lucky, however I believe that if it is really important to you to complete your family satisfactorily, then I think that anything is worth a try.

    Good luck
