Red face wriggling while feeding causing reflux??

Hi this is my first time posting so I hope I explain myself properly.

My daughter is almost 7 months and has silent reflux treated with losec. She has been on losec for 3 weeks, previously on zantac. She has never been a big eater but is thriving, very tall but quite skinny.

Some days I really struggle to get her to take formula, bottle or sippy cup makes no diff. (lactose free formula). For example I fed her at 5pm yesterday (ate well) and today she has had 3 feeds each of 50mls and some sweet potato. Evening feed yet to come.

I think it is because she she wriggles so much when being fed. At the moment she is trying to put her feet in her mouth. I have tried feeding her in a high chair but it makes no difference. She drinks the first 50mls so enthusiastically then cries and swats the bottle away.

She dream feeds really well but I would like to start getting a full nights sleep . Has anyone experienced this and have any tips?

My DS is a refluxer from way back. When he was around 8 months the only way he would take a bottle was if I sat on the floor open legged & he had his head on my thigh. He started taking a full 180ml feed.

She may also start to reflux mid feed, you can give 1-2 ml of mylanta before a feed. Just make sure the mylanta is at least an hour before or after having losec.

Hi there - sounds exactly like my DS who is 8 months old. He is constantly hungry but can't bring himself to eat more than 50mls each time. I reckon it's because the reflux is not under control. He has good weeks and then bad ones and when he has bad ones, like he is at the moment, it is a struggle to get him to eat much at all.

What dose of losec is your little one on? Have you got room to move to see if it will make a difference?

Sorry, wanted to give you some tips as well that helped with us.

    - wrap her up for feeding. Not sure why this works but seems that not having arms being able to flap around there is less distraction perhaps?

    - feeding when tired and ready for a nap. Seems that when DS was tired and ready for sleep he would eat heaps better than when alert. Not great for your regular "routine" but we made it part of our routine and worked ok

    - bonjella on gums if she is teething - sometimes their gums can be sore which cause them not to want to eat

Hope some of these might help for you.

    Smile Thank you

Thanks for the tips. I will work my way through them and see if I have any success. It is nice to know that it is not all in my head and she really can give herself a pain by being an energetic feeder
