A great development book is called Baby Steps by Claire Kopp.

It isn't a parenting book though. It outlines Developmental stages from birth-2.

I loved 'Up the Duff' by Kaz Cooke. Informative and hilarious! I loved it because it didn't feel like I was reading a school science textbook....
We made it to one year with our sanity (just) in tact!

I have the "What to expect in the first year" I quite liked it, I also had the "What to expect when you're expecting". They also do a toddler one as well!

I found the best one to be by Sheyne Rowley (an Australian) Dream Baby Guide http://www.australianbabywhisperer.com.au/. Really recommend it.

the "kid wrangling" one by kaz cooke is good...it follows on from up the duff, and is packed with awesome info..follows the child up til 5yrs i believe.

'The Wonder Weeks' which you can buy on Amazon and in America only. Though its not really for physical development but more the mental side of things. Very interesting and helpful.
