    Default I think I need a filling

I was flossing the other night, and noticed that I have a hole in the side of one of my molars. It is not sore at all, but is attracting a lot of leftover food!
I am guessing that I will need to get a filling...but am currently 14 weeks pregnant. I do not want to risk anything harming the baby, but at the same time, I dont want my tooth to rot away to nothing!
Do they give you a needle to just do a filling??
Are fillings ok to get during pregnancy? Do I need to get my OB's ok first?

As long as you let them know you are pregnant then it will be fine. They will use a local that doesn't have adrenalin in it which is safe for people with medical conditions and pregnancy. Otherwise fillings are perfectly fine in pregnancy.

Mygirl is right. Just tell them and it's not a problem. I actually ask not to have anesthetic when I get fillings etc (hate the numb feeling) but then again if you can see/feel a hole it's obviously quite large so a local will most likely be the best option. I would definitely get it done asap!!! U won't have time once bub arrives. Also best to get it done before 3rd trimester as they font tend to like to see u then as it's uncomfortable for u to lie down and some women have trouble breathing.

But right now is fine :-)

I had a tooth pulled when I was 20 something weeks with my first the dentist took ages discussing pros and cons of leaving it or pulling it out and decided the risk of leaving it (infection) out weighed the use of light anesthetic.

My cousin suffered bells palsy (sp?) where half face drops nerves stop working or something like that and also had severe PND and it was all traced back to a wisdom tooth that got infected and then poisoned her blood stream.

Obviously my cousins situation is a worst case but IMO I wouldn't leave any dental work unchecked while pregnant.
