Hi everyone,
DP and I are planning a trip to Canberra on Friday to (finally!) buy our pram and change table.
Does anyone have any recommendations as to where to go shopping?
Thanks!
Bec.

Believe it or not, but Toys 'R Us at the Belconnen Mall have some great things. We got our baby bath, mobile and pram from there and it was the only pram I could find that had a reversable handle.
We got our cot from Myer (quite expensive though) and Mums 'n Bubs in Fyshwick or Baby Wombats in Belconnen are good too.
For clothing, I found the best (and cheapest) place is Target (in Civic or Tuggeranong).
There is also a cheap nappy place in Fyshwick and in Mitchell (I think) that have some good nappy deals.
Maybe you should do a yellow pages search on the net for the contact details and addresses.
Hope this helped!

hi bec,
we got our stuff from baby wombats in belconnen and mums and bubs in fyswick, they were good quality stuff but also kinda pricy, still reasonable, but if i had my time again I would honestly go to kmart and target and such for everything, maybe not cot,but we got a second hand one anyway, but yeah i think these places are great for all you need and I wouldnt recommend spending heaps on things, cause honestly some things are only used a handful of times, like our much needed 3 in 1 portable cot..which 2 years later, still has the tags on it!!
Good luck though, its so much fun!

Thanks so much, I looked up the Services guide here and on the yellow pages, but it's hard when you have 10 shops listed and no "local" recommendations!
We only have to get a change table, pram, nappy bucket and bath. (cot, mobile, and heaps of clothes provided as hand me downs from inlaws) Our lovely parents are paying for the first two so we are really lucky and can get exactly what we want (you gotta love providing the first grandkids for 5 yrs!)
Looks like we will check out Fyshwick & Belco then.
Thanks again!
Bec.

Definitely Baby Wombats in Belconnen (good range and fantastic service). Mums and Bubs is good for cots and prams, but have found them to be limited in other areas (and the service is dreadful!), same goes for Babyco in Fyshwick. Toys R Us isn't too bad either, but only if you know exactly what you want cos the 12 yr old sales staff don't have a clue.
For smaller stuff, Target, Kmart, Big W are the way to go.
Sorry, just noticed the date on your post - you would have already been here! Hope you got what you needed anyway![]()
Hi again,
Well we ended up choosing a pram at Mums & Bubs (MIL is buying it for us so we don't have it yet, she might get it somewhere else). We got the change table and a cot mobile at Babyco. I thought their range was reeeally limited, but their furniture was cheaper. We got one that was already on sale, then they couldn't find it in the colour we wanted, so we got the one off the floor with a further 20% reduction.... gotta love that!
We got a little bookcase from the white wood warehouse in Fyshwick too. Just what we wanted.
Then it was into Kmart at Belco for bath, nappy bucket, and all the nappy bag/change table paraphernalia.
So thanks for the recommendations, we were really happy with our day (even have some money left over)

hi,
im very happy to hear you got what you wanted, i agree babyco was a bit limited.
Its always nice when you finish with a bit left over though isnt it!
how exciting is it having all the stuff though!
Have fun playing round with it all, I know I did!![]()
