I can understand why the OP asks the question.

Sometimes as a mum who often does things the 'less than perfect' way, I feel very much in the minority on this forum.

After being here for a while now, I know that I'm not in the minority at all, and it's just that the more 'perfect' mum's are more vocal here.

I do what's best for me and my baby, as does everyone else here. No one's right or wrong. Sometimes it's just nice to know we're not the only ones who aren't 100% perfect all the time.

That's right, I think we all parent our children in the way that's right for them.

This is why children have parents, so they have grown ups in their lives who can work out what they want and what they need.

Some people get it wrong and the kids don't remain in their care some of the time, but more and more those parents are given in home assistance to help them before children are removed, which is how I believe it should always be, short of the parents actually wanting a break for a while, or the children being in immediate harm.

Totally agree with the OP...I've just come back from a 10 day holiday to the coast, my 2.5 yr old had hot chips, maccas, nuggets etc on occasion when we were out, other times I just gave him vegies off my plate, toasted sandwiches, vegemite sandwiches etc. Hubby and I try not to give him too much unhealthy food, but, heck, we were on holidays I wanted to enjoy it and not fight with my child about eating his greens. AND I even let him a little glass of lemonade every now and again!!!! My bad!!! My 5 month old son is getting 4 teeth and of course was horrendous while we were away, he had panadol and bonjela numerous times! It was the only thing that helped him to feel better- he chewed on his little hand so much trying to cut his teeth that his hand is red raw!

Yep, I immunize my kids, they're done for a reason, and I trust my doctor completely.

Sometimes I EVEN let my son play outside without shoes on! AND both my 2.5yr old and 5month old watched the wiggles TWICE on the way home from holidays in the car (7hour trip in the pouring rain!!)

AND the week before we went on holidays my eldest son was eating biscuit in the sandpit that I had given him the day before!!! He left it in there and started eating it again! Good for the immunity I say!

Honestly, they're kids, sometimes you just gotta let kids be kids!

Define "perfect". I think well all have a different definition of perfect.

Do you really think people think less of you because you feed your bub jarred baby food or you use disposables and you like to feed him/her fried chips

I dont feed my kid jarred food because as a PP stated before, it tastes like sh1t. Not because I want to be a perfect mum and cook everything.
I use MCN's on DS because they look cute, work well and keep his bum rash free, not because I want to be a perfect mum and do the right thing by the environment.
For me they're just more practical.

But just because I cook fresh and stick my kid in MCN's does not mean I think mums who use sposies and jarred babyfood are less perfect

Sheesh my besty puts her kid in sposies and other than the occasional fried chip, I dont think he's ever eaten anything fresh in his 15 months on this earth. Yet I dont judge her as a lesser mum. She's a perfect mum for her son. We are all perfect mums. All our bubs are different and have different needs. We're all perfect in our own unique and different ways.

I hope that this thread is not going to end up badly like all the former similar threads.
We're all different and I dont want to think there are really women out there who would judge others simply by what they feed their child and what they put on their butts as poo catchers.

no you aren't the only one lol! I dunno if you are new cos the new members always seem to worry about this! I don't do all the things you said but I have fed my toddler chips and gravy on many a shopping trip,I only use cloth when I'm poor and don't want to buy nappies and I am not overly concerned with avoiding panadol. If he has a fever I bring it down straight away with medicine. I have never been one for tinned or canned food I like to make baby food fresh but I don't actually think baby food is bad either and did use the egg custard a few times. As for vaccines I am a big fan of them and am up to date with every vaccination right from birth

OP I think you'll find your way is actually much more popular than using MCNs etc. Just look down all the baby isles of most popular stores, you almost have to move heaven and earth to find an actual physical shop that will stock MCNs.

I've started using pull-ups at night after years of using MCNs and I don't regret my decision for a minute

Defeniatly not the only one We all parent differently! I like to think I have my parenting style just like the next person. However it just so happened I used disposable nappies with both of my girls. My kids have enjoyed unhealthy foods at times, and I don't feel bad about it because they have a balanced diet every other day. I immunise my kids 100% and I think that's the best thing for them.
There's alot of debatable techniques and products out nowadays that it sort of makes you question your parenting, but the variety is good! You can do things the way you choose to!
Try and be confident in how you parent, not dissapointed or guilty because some ppl might do it differently.

Certainly not. I was thinking about this last night as I pour spagetti into my 17 month olds dinner bowl and topped it off with some veggies. I cannot be the ONLY mum who has a lazy dinner night here and there.

I do use MCN though, they are cute and save me money. I have had to use sposies the last few weeks and my god did it take a chunk out of our pockets. Not something I can afford all the time.

I vax, I planned to before I read most of the things I have read now, and I still plan to.

My kids to not eat a perfect organic homemade diet nor do I dress them everyday (LOVE PJ days). Sometimes I even sit them in front of a DVD so I can relax on my own.

It have taken me a while to stop guilting myself for not being the "perfect" mother.

I am the perfect mum for my kids, I just do it my way, they are happy and healthy, if only a little naughty!
