    Default Multi-purpose Childs room?!?

Gosh does anyone else have a Childs room/store room/laundry folding room .... Errm.... Toy friggin storage.... Additional furniture... Oh yeah and a cot and change table somewhere in there!!!

    Argh!

In a fit of mother guilt that Jasper has no carpet space in his room I played 3 dimensional tetrus with his room and after an hour, a lot of grunting and frustration from me, a bit of sweat I managed to create about 2 meters by 1.5 meters of usable carpet beside the window for Jasper to enjoy.

    GO ME!

    Anyone have this?!?

Too much stuff, not enough space.

    Argh!

    Yes, sorta.

I own a tiny 3br villa. Zav's room isn't big enough for him to play in. It has a changetable, cot and reclinerchair and it would have 1sqm to move around in
I have had ALL his toys and books in the small livingroom and have tripped and fallen over them a 100 times.
The spare bedroom was just that. It had my old desktop PC, single bed and it was my laundry folding/ironing/ nappy and junk storageroom
I felt horrible that he didn't have anywhere to play by himself when he's a little older. He didn't have any "him" space. He always would have to play with everybody looking at him
So I did what you did. 3 Days ago, I got stuck into things and decided to get rid of the single bed, put the PC in the wardrobe, got rid of the monitor and desk and the ironing board got squished between the car and the wall in the garage.
I bought a big 2 door pantry cupboard and stuffed all his nappies and toys in there plus some other bits and pieces.

He now has suddenly all this space (2mX3m) and I dont know what to do with it
Been looking for some ideas. Might get one of those "road" playmats to ride his cars on.

We have to have Nathan and Hayley in one room as we only have a three bedroom house, Skye is in her own room for now because of sleep issues, anyway, Hayley has a bed and Nathan is in a cot right up against the window and there isn't much room to move. We can't fit two single beds in either of the kids' rooms because they are too small so when Nathan moves into a big boy bed we'll have to get either bunk beds (which I'm a bit iffy about) or trundles. Then when the bottom trundle is out, there's no room (though they're not supposed to be playing at bed time anyway).

If I had the money I'd get a bigger house. Even rent one.

Yeah that's what I got! A road play mat from ikea for $21 on sale and then felt bad I didn't have anywhere to put it.

I shouldn't really complain we do have a nice big bedroom ourselves and a large living room for an apartment.

If we didn't have jaspers god mother living with us ATM then Jasper pretty much has this whole room to himself as cot, change table and toys. But yeah.

Still woo for my 2 meters of play space!!! Plus now he can get out his toys himself as they are on low shelves in this room. It works well. Though only if you look at the window side of the room. The corner opposite the door is stacked half way to the ceiling.

Looks good! He even has a little couch thingy with it! As long as stuff cant fall on top of him, that space should be good enough for a little boy. Maybe when he's a bit bigger lateron, he might need more. But this ought to be enough for a toddler?

Yeah made it so a - he cannot climb the stuff and b is cannot avelanch on him.

Most of the job was playing 3d tetris underneath the dining table in the room, and forcing the chairs to fit behind it and wedging things behind and around the table. Then on the table is the laundry baskets and a chair that wouldn't fit under the table and his car seat pushed way back so there's nothing to grab.

So yeah, very safe - which was part of the issue before 'the way dp did it Jasper could climb up or pull things down. But daddy doesn't think about those things as much as I do.

yeah we totally had that problem. A trip to IKEA fixed it. We had a 'junk room' in the back of our place that the budgies cage is in and it really was unusable even though its a huge room. So we bought the ikea expedit system and cleaned everything up. Its awesome. Keeps all her toys away from view and I put them in boxes that I can slide in and out the storage unit.
I also just moved the baby rocker/recliner chair out of her room as we dont use it anymore, and its really comfy. So I bought her a mamut table from ikea with 2 stools so she can draw and play in her room. Im really liking the space we only have 2 bedrooms, so its cozy and I cant stop buying toys

We got rid of all our carpet and now have polished floor boards so what I'm currently in the process of doing in renovating our garage and turning it into a play room.

I saved some carpet and underlay from when we ripped it up from the house and I'm going to relay it in the garage.

We don't have a big house so I'm hoping that will add some valuable play space (and it doubles as a poker room at night... he he he)

I've also already built a deck thats 8x13 meters for son to play on - I think it's going to come in real handy now that good weather is upon us.

Yeah that'd be awesome. If we had a house we'd carpet the garage, seeing as we don't have a car.

Hehe yeah and wedged behind jaspers toy shelves are two collapsable poker tables, and we have a mini bar, with matching dining table and seating...

... So one day I'm sure dp will be doing that also and laying carpet in a garage to make a bar/poker room... oh and I'm sure Jasper could maybe play in it too

Though one day we may also have a car....
