Question Would you support breastfeeding education in schools?

A comment in another thread inspired me to ask this question: would you support breastfeeding education being part of the health/sex. ed classes in schools? A program i work with is looking at ways of incorporating this, and wondering what reaction parents would have. The background to this initiative is the idea that introducing BF as the norm from early primary (or before) would increase the likelihood of those children growing up to be BFers. What do you think?? And as a side note, do schools near you have any type of parenting or "mothercraft" lessons, as in days gone by?

Absolutely. But I wouldn't support a militant approach of denegrating ffing. I would love to see kids being taught (in an age appropriate way) how the milk is produced, what the benefits are. To be shown beautiful bfing photos and how lovely it can be.

    i definitely support that.

i'd also support teaching about normal (non-hollywood) birth at school

    I would definately.

I think maybe not even like a BIG deal 'today we are going to talk about bfing'

More like, sperm, egg, womb, grows, labour, breast feeding. It's just the natural path.

I do though also think there should be with like older teens maybe a class explaining, discussing, debating breast vs formula, just to get them thinking about it, to encourage a choice rather than just following along with like if their mum didn't bf why should they?

Ultimately nobody can make anyone decide anything but I think encouraging boys and girls to discuss it, and work out what they think and believe is a positive thing

    Yes i would support that.

I have done my bit by talking to preps about how a baby is breastfed and by breastfeeding in the school grounds on a regularly bases. I have a 45 minute window from when the first child finishes to when the oldest finishes.
Is blessed to have 6 wonderful kids.

Breastfeeding needs to become the normal thing to do...
I hear so many people say they are going to feed their babies the "normal way" (bottle)
