    Default Oral Thrush

I've had Mastitis and am still on antibiotics for it. My CHN visited the other day and warned me that my little one may develop thrush as a result of me taking the antibiotics.

He now has white stuff in his mouth which I initially thought was milk but it hasn't gone away, cracked lips with some white on them, nappy rash and keeps pulling of my b00b while feeding. So I think it is thrush.

I am getting DH to pop into the chemist on the way home from work tonight but does anyone know what is best to get to fix this quickly? I feel bad that I didn't notice sooner as it seems that he is now in pain

Oral Daktarin works a treat, and Hydrazole on his bum will get rid of it down there. dont balme yourself its very very very common! I dont think it actually hurts bub, just scares us mums

Just be wary if you have cracked or grazed nipples as the thrush can get in there its mighty sore to feed with nipple thrush and hard to get rid of!

    Good luck

daktarin isn't recomended for under 6 months (cos it's a choking hazard, the gell is quite thick)
Thrush doesn't hurt bub, just itches like mad! (alot like when you have thrush in your v@gina)

unfortunatly from my families experiance daktarin is the only thing that works on oral thrush

Daktarin is ok if you apply it in bubs mouth (without using the spoon they give you) you will also need to be treating your nipples as well as you may not see thrush, but no doubt have it.
It often causes shooting pains when feeding bub.

Chemist should give you directions to using daktarin on smaller babies.

My dd had thrush and I got it on my nipples which is very painful, I was giving daktarin my dd was about 4 weeks and I was told to just rub it on my nipple before a feed and then a small bit on her dummy!
Hope it clears up soon and it doesn't transfer to you!

Thanks....I now have it in my nipple/b00b as well....omg it is sore!

I think I might have to lie to the chemist about his age as we tried to get Daktarin but they wouldn't let us have it as he's under 6 months. My CHN also said to get Daktatin but to smear it on his mouth rather than the big glob on the tongue. At the moment he is having Nilstad (I think that's the name) but not clearing it up.
