Newborn head

Maybe I wouldn't notice it of I didn't know what happened to my cousins daughter. When do newborns start to hold there head up?? My daughter is constantly tilting to the left whether in bed asleep on her back, in her rocker on the car seat or if I'm holding her. She is 2 months and a week. Is it normal?

No, my son does this too and has for a long time. We have been going to physio for the past month to help fix it he is 4 months, does she have a flat spot too??

She has a side preference so the muscles in once side of her neck are weak which is why she cant hold her head straight. Most GP's don't pick it up I was refereed to physio but my CHN

Talk to your GP or CHN.

My son has a left head side preference so I have to make him look right, He loves the TV so I lay him to make sure he has to look right to see it, on the floor toys are out on the right, when I pick him up I have to roll him right, give him a min to get use to it then pick him up while he is still on the side, this makes him pick his head up so he has to use his neck muscle.

I was also told to never have him sitting up because they really can not support their head at that age, that is why it wobbles after a few minuets.

So don't use the bouncer, jolly jumper, those new kids seats. Just lay her on the floor, if she is on your lap support her head.

The physio said that the flat spot is pushing the skull forward so left untreated can be quite bad.

I don't want to scare you but the sooner it is looked into the quicker it can be fixed and don't feel bad it happens to a lot of children

Not to late at all. I started at 3 months and have heard of bubs getting seen at 9 months

When DS was a newbie, I noticed that started getting a flat spot and someone suggested to me to switch his bassinet around every night, because although he was sleeping on his back, he would always turn his head towards my bed.. So I just spun it around every night so he would alternate which way he would turn his little head and problem solved. Good luck, I'm sure you can fix it if you are aware of it this early, no stress
