Exclamation Tube Fed Bub Spewing Up Every Feed

Hi! Not doing so well today. My tube fed bub has spewed up almost all of his feeds in the last 24 hours - it's been a rough night for Mum, Dad and Bub.

He had a slight fever yesterday of 37.9, although this morning his fever has gone.

Is on reflux medication, however, he's spewed that up this morning along with his morning feed.

He's tube fed because he refuses to drink formula from either the bottle or cup.

I'm absolutely sick with worry about him. I don't know what's wrong!!!

Are there any other mums out there with tube fed bubbies? I feel like I'm the only one out there.

hon is there anyway that the feeds could be slowed??? or given half the amounts .. more often??? I know its fiddley that way .. but .. some food is better than none??

if bubs isn't keeping water down .. I would certainly head straight to the GP ...

I dont have a tube fed bubba... but I have had many many tube fed students .. I know that it can be frustrating ..

    - he is 7 months old.. is it a nasal tube or a gastro tube (belly) ??? I cant see any tubes or tape in the avatar is all ... if it is the pace that is the problem .. there are other pieces of equipment you can use ...

big to you .. I hope it is sorted soon ...

    xx

    I agree with Veve ( )

Half feeds/glucolite is the way to go (if its a bug ), or check your placement if its a NGT it may not be inserted far enough, and if its a dueodeanal tube it might have been dislodged some how? If it a peg, I would call your Paed to discuss what to do.

vomitting in anycase is upsetting but with a tube feeder, I would be worried about aspiration of the feed into the lungs!

I would go to the GP at the very least.

    Hello! Thanks guys...

Yes - I did take him to see the GP at Karalee this morning! Why? Where you there? ARE YOU STALKING ME? *looks left to right, suspiciously*

GP thinks he has a bug that reacts with tummies and makes you temporarily lactose intolerant.

We're now going to half formula feeds and do it every two hourly instead of four hourly, and see how that goes for the next 24 hours. GP said it should only take 24 hours for it to pass until we can go back to normal.

And after having some success with getting DS to drink SOME from the bottle, he's now refusing to drink from the bottle/cup at all.

I HAAAAAAAATE that bloody tube and I HAAAAAAAAAATE how DS wont drink from the bottle.

Yes I'm stalking you - is that ok???

No, I think I was parked beside you when you were getting bub out of the car, you had to close the door to let me through, and then I waited for you to get him out before I left......

Glad it wasn't anything too serious........ Yeah, the not taking a bottle thing sux hey?? Enough to drive mummy to the bottle sometimes!!!

I've rung the GP again because he's still vomiting and he's said to put him on hydration fluid for the day 50mls every hour and start him back on formula on a weaker mix, and gradually bring it back up again.
