    Default Marina Coil?

    hi ladies!

Well I am off to my gyn/ob today to get the marina coil inserted as I have just recently had dd and dont want to fall again for about a year.

The pill didnt work for us as I fell with ds on it. The pull out method didnt work either as we fell with dd. But we want to ttc late next year so I will only have it for about a year.

    My questions are:

    1. I have not had my period yet since having dd (10weeks old) will i get it now?

    2. Does it REALLY hurt alot? I do have a high pain threshold.

    3. Will I bleed straight after its inserted?

    4. How long till we can dtd safely after it?

sorry these questions probably seem a little ridiculous but I guess I am just a little nervous. lol

    TIA

Not sure if it is the same thing as mine is not a coil but like a little 'T', but I had mine put in 5 weeks ago. It didn't hurt to be put in, just alittle uncomfortable - like a pap smear really. My ds2 was also 10 weeks when I had it put in and I hadn't had a period either, I had a little bleeding (like a few spots) after it had been put in, then a few days later I started to bleed a little. That lasted for about 5 days and since then I've kinda spotted here and there, but not alot. I was told that there can be irregular bleedng for up to 12 weeks and then the majority of women have very little bleeding(maybe a bit of spotting) for a few days per month. They also told me that due to the fact that I hadn't had a period yet the chances of irregular bleeding too much were less because the lining of the uterus is still very thin. You can dtd after 48hrs.
Not sure if your bf'ing but I had a few weeks were bub started fussing quite a bit during feeds and pulling on and off and the health care nurse thinks it may be because of the mirena? Not sure but I persisted with it and he has come good now. Apparently when you get your period again it can change the taste of the milk so they are thinking maybe the mirena has done this? Good luck with it - I'm happy with mine so far.
