Default pain in right side of abdomen 6 wks pregnant??

Hi all sorry to burden you with yet another question.

I am worried because I have a nagging pain that is quite painful on the lower right hand side of my abdomen. I am 6 weeks pregnant. I have had cramps come and go on both sides before, but this pain is concerning me as it is more painful and in the same spot and has stuck around for about an hour and a half so far. I really hope it goes away soon... anyone had any similar things happen? I will def ring the nurse in the morning if it is still there...

    Hi Winzy

Its scary isn't. I didn't know what was normal and what wasn't. When I was about 6 weeks, I was doubled over in pain, could hardly walk, my stomache was even tender to touch......ended up being constipation and wind. But at the time, I was really anxious that something untoward was happening. It think it was the uncertainty and not knowing what was normal and what wasn't.

I would defnitely call the nurse. At one stage, I presented to ED and got an extra scan, just for peace of mind.

    Good luck...I hope it passes

Do you have a confirmed intrauterine pregnancy? If not, you should be seen ASAP in case it could be an ectopic pregnancy. Please seek some help soon

Winzy, I've had the exact pain your talking about on the right side too. I understand your concern & hoping it just "growing pains" for both of us. I had it on & off yesterday but "touch wood" haven't had it at all today. I hope your pain had ceased & your ok. Let us know how you get on xxxx

Hi there ladies thank you very much for your concern and advice.

The pain has pretty much gone now which is a relief although every now and then there is a dull ache. I am concerned about the ectopic possibility though (especially cos I had the new girl do my transfer eek!) So I will ring them now.

Digby: while not rejoicing in your pain it is reassuring to hear you are feeling the exact same stuff and you are at the exact same stage as me!!

Hopefully all is okay and yet again it is unwarranted stress... xxx

Just rang the nurse and she said that ectopic pregnancies are very rare and that many people get different aches and pains in pregnancy and that the pain each person gets can be more or less severe from others.

She said it could also be referred pain from my back cos Im walking with a limp at the moment recovering from a broken foot.

And she also told me to take a panadol every 4 hours and if that doesnt stop it, or if Im in agony, or if I start bleeding, to go into emergency.

I will update this thread again after my scan to fill you in on how it goes and if this pain is indeed normal or not.

Hi Winzy, I had excruciating pains also on my right side. For some reason, growing pains on the right side are more common than on the left. Like Emma said, it could be placenta related, it could just be growing pains. You are only 6 weeks away from your uterus popping out above your pelvis, so things grow very quickly. Like I said in another thread re cramps, I had AF type cramps consistently til 17 weeks +.

Your favouritism to one side of your body due to your foot could also be contributing as you suggest. Rest up, take it easy and all will be well
