    Default Disappointed....

    Hi Everyone,

Been a while since I last posted.. All going really well - went for my 20 wk scan today and all looks great! I am a little sad, though, that the sonographer wasn't able to determine the sex of our little bub... She tried for ages but just couldnt get bub into the right position to see what he/she is...

Is this a common thing - I was kind of hoping that we'd be able to find out.. Not one for surprises myself!!

We are ever so grateful and elated that bub appears healthy and fine - just would've loved to have known what we are having....

Or am I being a little precious??

I hope all turns out fine Widget! Fingers crossed!

BM2B! Yeah it is pretty common although I am with Widget on that one as I have never been unlucky enough for bubs to be hiding! Mine are VERY photogenic! They seem to love flashing EVERYONE their bits. Right away the sonograhpers can tell sex! You can request another ultrasound but would probably have to pay for it if your on Medicare...and if you're not...well you'll have to anyway! I hope you get to know soon! Do you have a feeling about what you're having?

I did and was right both times. Mother's intuition...or just family history!

    Default Disppointed..

Hi Ladies - thanks for your info about my concerns over not being able to determine our bub's gender...

Caszie: I do have a feeling it'll be a boy.. Only because my hubby comes from a very long paternal line of boy only families.. He's one of 3 boys, his dad was one of 3 boys, his grandfather was one of 7 boys etc etc..... Taht - and the fact that this bub is being very naughty when it comes to the scans - have had the 2 now and for each bub hasn't been cooperative at all!! the first, bub wouldn't get into the right positioning for the sonogrpaher, menaing i had to perform contortion acts so she could get the right measurements.. And this last time bub wouldnt get in the right position either, no matter what we did!! I'm guessing that means it's one of my hubbies family's cheeky boys!! But could be wrong... funnily enough the sonographer said that her theory, from her many years of scanning, is that is the arms are up in the scan then it's a girl, if they are down around their 'bits' or the cord, then it's a boy.... Not sure about that one though!!!

I've heard that you can choose to go get another scan if you wish, but this would be out of your own pocket and we'd need to find somewhere to do that without a referral - is this right??

Does anyone know of a practice in Brisbane - northside or CBD - that does this?

At the end of the day, though, we ar eboth ecstatic that bub is all ok and all looks great!! So if it turns out we can't find out before the birth - then it wil be a wonderful surprise!!!

    Thanks again ladies!!

Hi all, I am 6 weeks pregnant with my first child. I have been diagnosed with pre-existing high blood pressure (before pregnancy) and am overweight. I noticed that several people on this thread have also had hypertension. Everything I research online (and most of what my GP has said) about high blood pressure and pregnancy is so depressing. I am feeling really nervous about being able to safely carry my baby to term. Any success stories out there? Has anyone else had pre-existing high blood pressure and a successful pregnancy?
(PS my doctor is now treating the hypertension with pregnancy safe tablets to lower the blood pressure)

    Feeling worried
