Oat milk for 8 month old?

My ds is cmpi ... I've started giving him weetbix fir breakfast but it's pretty ordinary when it's made with water, I usually mix in some banana and pear but it's still pretty ordinary.

Can I give him oat milk.? We do have a prescription formula I could use but I'm hesitant to do so as he's not used to it and doesn't like the flavour - I don't want to turn him off his breakfast.

i give our son rice milk on cereal or in cooking i cvould use the made up elecare on cereal but i find it easier to use rice milk.

have u thought bout rice milk i havent used oat milk coz the pead. said to try rice first and it worked for us so havent needed to look else where.

We use Rice milk in our house. The one that we use is from the cooler section of the supermarket in a brown 1 litre carton. I think it's vitasoy brand. It has added calcium which is beneficial if your little ones are off dairy.

we use lidells lactose free milk here!!!! The prescription formula stinks hey!!! DD is used to it now, but I still dry reach when she burps near me!!! LOL

edit:sorry just re read he is cmpi not just lactose!! WHOOPS!! sorry... i would use rice milk, that is what I have!! YUM

Lactose Free should not be used for a child with CMPI because all the protiens are still present.

I used to use his Neocate at times but mainly rice milk, one enriched with Calcium to be sure also.

Oat Milk is the other option but I would also warn that if he has a sensitive gut which tends to be the case with intolerances that you be wary of feeding him Weetbix.

Weetbix is great for most people & can help with any bowel irregularties which is great but for many it is actually the worst thing to actually use. It can have the opposite effect in those with bowel problems because it will actually sit in the bowel too long & harded causing a plug which in turn causes constipation etc.

I also wouldn't suggest it for a child under 12mths of age as it is way too rich for their tummies.

oh well, looks like ive got a box of weetbix to eat!!

i would just rather get him eating something that i eat ... i was giving him the raffertys breakfast cereal and it tastes just like weetbix so thought i'd try him on other cereals ...

If he is going ok on weetbix, I would keep him on it. We use vitabritz here (salt content much lower) and DD loves it and havent had any issues.

If he seems to not have a problem I would keep using it...

Everything you just said was what I was thinking thanks for saving me the type up lol. Yes oat milk i made that mistake with my cmpi bub that caused a severe diarrhoea with my son that ended up with him in hospital for two weeks just passing blobs of blood because he got an ulcerated colon. Needless to say we haven't touched it since.
