    Default Medicated FET's - Difference

    Hi,

I understand the differences between the different IVF protocols for fresh cycles, but just wondering if you could explain why, with Medicated FET's that there are different protocols and what reasons a certain protocol would be prescribed?

I am currently on a medicated FET Cycle and I am on Progynova and just started Progesterone Pessaries.

However I understand that there is another cycle where FSH is given and a trigger to ovulate.

Just wondering why the two cycles are so different?

    Thanks!!

Hi There is always more then one way to skin a cat! For a transfer of a frozen embryo we require uterine exposure to oestrogen and then progesterone. Oestrogen can be exogenous (such as the progynova tablets) or endogenous from the ovary. When the ovary does not work normally (such as with PCO) then sometimes we need to induce ovulation so the ovary can produce oestrogen. This can be done with clomid, FSH injections etc.
Your method is long proven, cheap and of little risk as opposed to the other techniques. Your specialist is all over it! Good luck with your transfer. Dr Glenn Sterling
