Is it a once off thing or has it been happening for a while? Was there pain around your anus when passing the stool or just in your lower back? What colour was the blood? Have you had any big changes in your diet lately or have you gained/lost a significant amount of weight lately?

same thing happened to ds last week! He had no other symptoms and the gp was a bit flummoxed, as was the paed at the children's. They ran a whole lot of tests and they came back inconclusive, but gp said it was most likely a form of gastro. I would go to the doctor just in case but not urgently, unless you get any other symptoms- that's what the gp told me, to go straight to the children's if it changed at all. Anyway he had it about a week but it didn't bother him at all, it could be something going round??

Mucous in poo could be a sign of IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), and can happen with runny or solid poos. When was the last time you went?? sorry to be so personal
