    Default Education savings plans

    Hi everyone,
Has anyone had any experiences with education savings plans (either good or bad)? For example, ASG.
My wife and I are planning ahead for our baby's high school and university tuition.

    Hi Winston.

My DH and I are a member of the ASG. We had a rep out and he went through everything with us. The amount of money you get back from investing in a plan looked pretty good. We are currently paying $12 a week for our 16month old DD. As she gets older we will ocntibute more so that if she decides to undertake tertiary study she will have funds available to help her through that. Our main reasons for joining were that by the time our DD undertakes teritary education there will be no more HECS or student loans. We are also going to send her to priavte school, so the funds will also help with her secondary education.

What we really liked about ASG was that it doesn't have any shareholders, and it was started up by parents and there is a huge number of parents investing in education plans for their children. Unlike some other education funds that consist of shareholdres!!

If you visit their website and contact them they will get a rep out to you to go through all the details!!

    good luck!

    No worries mum2bug.....

If you don't mind me asking, what school were you thinking of sending bug too? I have one in mind for DD but not too sure about it anymore. I'm not originall from Perth so am not too familiar with the schools here!

    Thanks

Im looking at Midland Christian School, with Beechboro Christian as my back up (provided my ex is ok with it of course). Can I ask what school you had in mind?

    Thanks cmd'smum.
Did you look at any other funds before deciding on ASG? The Commonwealth Bank have something similar, but it looks a bit more restrictive.
Agree with you that being a friendly society is an advantage. It makes me feel that the benefits are for the members / customer, rather than faceless shareholders.
Not that I'm against shareholders generally though
