We're at a caravan park and one of the kids that our kids have been playing with has gone down with gastro.......we're going out for the day luckily, but I'm so paranoid! Especially when DS1 refuses to listen and keeps wandering over there

Oh dear! Hope he feels better soon no fun, especially when we can't handle vomit.

I hope you all stay healthy Livvie! The anticipation is far worse than actually having the bug I think! DS is doing a bit better, hasn't spewed for a couple of hours and has kept down some cordial.

DD now has the squirts!! But she's 5, and can make it to the toilet so much more manageable than DS.

DH and I are taking bets on which of us will crash first...... Surprisingly I am handling it all really well. Not panics or freak outs! I definitely think for me the anticipation is the worst part.

I agree the anticipation is the worst. I realised this after I noticed I was getting more stressed at the potential of gastro happening then I was if one of my kids suddenly starts spewing. It was quite a revelation to me actually and i have since worked on trying to relax and not get myself too worked up before anything actually happens, which is very hard to do but I try.

I'm still fine. Poor DH had it from both ends for about 14 hours straight. Kids are definitely on the mend now! What a sucky New Years......

I didn't dodge it, but I hope I will bring you some hope. I now have gastro, have had a few bouts of diarrhea and one massive upchuck so far. And I am sooking, feel like crap, and just generally sulking.

BUT! I haven't had a major panic attack, I haven't cried, and I haven't needed DH here to comfort me (good thing, because he is kid wrangling).

Oh mum2eandr I'm so sorry you got struck down with gastro. You must of felt like death. I'm so glad you handled it well though good on you . I think like you said the anticipation is so much worse. Just like labour. Everyone is so scared of labour but when you're actually experiencing it, it's not so bad.

Just curious, what does everyone here weigh. I struggle gaining weight coz I never eat till I'm full in case I feel nauseous, so I weigh 48-50kg. When I was pregnant I put on 20kg and ate the whole time and I loved it. It was as if the hormones suppressed my anxiety coz I didn't experience any panic attacks the whole time and during breast feeding. Once my hormones settled the anxiety returned .
