Maybe I should redo my budget!
We only have one car, but insurance is about $600 a year, same with our house and contents.
We grow our own tomatoes/broccoli/potatoes/lettuce (so far, I have carrots, rockmelon and watermelon ready to go, and plum/loqut/passionfruit which are still getting established) and barter for berries/apples/apricots/eggs.
DH will be starting some fish from home this year.
There are 2 adults (Im pregnant) 1 full time child, and 2 6yos (2 days a week, but my sister does usually bring dinner over for them, or buy pizza for everyone) in our family.
We dont waste (we compost anything that goes bad) but I certainly dont cook enough from scratch.
There are some great hints over in the budget threads

Some of you are so lucky.. I'm a single mum with a special needs 2yr old a 1 year old and another due in July and I'm gonna be homeless in a few weeks if I can't save enough for bond! Meanwhile some of you have 15k sitting in the bank just as spendings.. so jealous...

After rent, it's $874 a week. Than comes daycare, bills, car repayment which leaves me about $390 for petrol, groceries, play money and savings. I try and limit the petrol, groceries and play money to $100 and save $290 a week.

That's a little bit lucky and a lot of hard work.
