Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia are daylight savings free.

I like it though i always find it a little harder to get to sleep when it starts cause its lighter so think its not so late etc

It did make it a little harder though when dealing with other states on the phone when I was working cause Id forget WA was 3 hours behind rather than 2 so I ended up waking people up Oops

Daylight saving for the farmer is a big hassel.
So normally he gets up at 4am, so do is animals.
Now if he gets up at 4 its still 3 to his animals.
So he gets up at 5 and its 4 to him aniamls and all on the farm is happy.
But then he needs to go shopping or do trade or anything that involves the world outside his farm. Hes an hour behind because he didnt start at 4 and finish his morning farm chores, he started at 5 and his chores finish an hour later. Really this just means change some routines. Annoying for a house of 4 people but not so easy for a farmer with animals. Try telling cows not to come in for milking when the sun comes down like they always did because before it was 6pm but now it 7pm. And then when summers over get all those animals to change back again.

There are other problems for farmers too, but for most folk in QLD especially up north where I am from who wants to drive to work in the dark and cold so I can swelter as a lay in bed at night shielding my eyes from the sun. Summer up here is a horror - 43 degrees is not the problem its the 90+ humidity - who wants less morning time when the humidty is lower and more afternoon time when the humidity is so oppressive.
And yes there is more if you wake at the same time as they intend you too.

I'm not phased one way or another.

When I was working it was difficult with different states on different time zones. As we dealt with our eastern state branches a lot we couldn't speak/contact them after 2pm.

No big issue now (I'm a SAHM!), but that was just one point I can think of now! Really, if one state has it we all should, or we should all scrap it to make it more consistent.

I love daylight savings! I am counting down until we get to change our clocks. Sure for a couple of days you're a bit more tired but you adjust pretty quick. I loved it heaps when I was working. Nothing worse than driving home and it gets dark really quickly, meaning you've missed the whole day.

I don't know anyone that doesn't like daylight's savings around here.

coming from the UK, daylight saving has a much bigger impact here than in oz cos we are much further north. with daylight savings we have daylight up to about 10pm in the summer and it is wonderful. Believe it or not the children don't change their sleep patterns, they adapt immediately and the cows still produce the same amount of milk.

when we put the clocks back in the autumn, people are sad cos we lose about 15 mins of daylight a week in the evening and the morning and it get darks by about 3.30-4pm on our shortest day.

i missed the long summer evenings when we lived in oz. its great now we have them again.

    OMG!
It is not 'really' 6am or 3pm or any time at all!
Clocks and time are completely arbitrary! Animals don't get up with an alarm, their sleeping patterns change with the seasons anyway.
Daylight savings is lovely, I spent last summer travelling NZ and it was fantastic! it didn't get dark til 9pm, I hated coming back to Queensland the 'smart state' and missing out on so much afternoon sunshine to spend with my family.
Queensland should obviously have daylight saving along with the rest of the east coast.

I'm a Yay. Growing up with daylight savings was great...
I would love to be able to spend more outdoor quality time with DF once he gets home from work. Go for walks, etc.
When it comes to getting bubs to bed...I'm sure a heavy set of curtains would do the trick.
I hate when people say to just get up an hour earlier to take advantage of the extra light. Who wants to get up at 5am to do gardening or go for a walk!! I'd rather be thanks.

I luurrrve daylight savings!! It ususally takes no more then a week at the most for Ronan's sleeping patterns to change so that he continues to go to sleep at 7pm (and he is always ready for bed then). I love being about to get out and garden after he's gone to bed- it's my only chance to really get stuck into anything. I can't wait to change the clocks forward!
