    Cool Daylight Saving.....

    Are you yay or nay??

We don't have it up here in QLD, which is a shame I think.

I am yay.....I love the extra hour sunlight at night, when Hubby can get home from work and we can then go for walks together after dinner!!

I don't see how dinner times have to change, there is no rule that dinner has be eaten when it is dark...Bed times, well, I have late bedders, so that aspect wouldn't worry my kids (unfortunately!!) but I could always make the room darker if they decided to go to bed early!!....

What I don't understand is up here, it was the farmers that didn't want daylight saving.....we only change the clock, not the sun??!! How does it affect them? Oh, and I once read that daylight saving will fade the curtains more...WT???? They would have to have been joking..right?

Not really because the kids go to bed later which means not much time for me and DH to spend alone.

but on the other hand i love having bbq's when it's daylight savings.
Me = Lauren, DH = Jamie.
    The kiddies = Dion (8), Calista (5)
    Jye, (4) Dakota (2). and Lillah (3months).

Mum23girls yes darl, it was a joke! There was a whole lot of them made up when QLD didn't go with daylight savings.

I put no, can't stand daylight savings. It was ok pre-children, but I can not imagine trying to put my boys into bed when it's really 7 and trying to get them up at 6 LOL no chance Also I have tried feeding them before dark and it's a no-no as well!

I know most farmers have long enough days at it is.People who run their own farms will still wake up at say 4am and work until well past dark.

I don't like daylight savings, perhaps because I grew up without it. I don't see the point of it. It's already daylight to 7 - 7:30pm in summer anyway.... When it's been 45 degrees all day who in their right mind wants to have to wait an extra hour for the sun to go down?

I don't understand the need to mess with the clock.

People take about having more time to be in the garden etc - It's light at 5am, go out and garden in the morning instead?

We were down in Victoria a few summers ago, brilliant sunshine at 9pm at night. Who needs that? I remember giving my parents a horrible time as a child, being made to do to bed in daylight, when we woud visit my grandparents down there.

I don't agree with the constant calls for a referendum either. QLD had one already, and QLD said "no". Its like dealing with toddlers, its simply not ok just to keep asking and asking for something until you get it! Unless they are going to guarentee another one in a few years time to see if people have changed their minds?

The curtain thing is a stupid argument Because it stays light for longer, the argument goes that because if they shut them at, say 7pm, it's now still light at 7pm - the curtains get exposed to more light and they fade... Like I said, stupid

I detest daylight saving. There is no advantage in having it. You get to spend an extra hour sitting in sweltering heat. Your kids wake up at 4am instead of 5am. They want to go to bed at 9 instead of 8 because "the suns still up". You can still have BBQ's and night walks without daylight. If people want that extra hour of daylight, why don't THEY get up an hour earlier and let the rest of us sleep??

Where I live, there are not many people at all that like it.
