Default Resignation Letter after Maternity Leave

So, after some careful consideration DH (LOVE my DH!) and I have agreed that I will continue to be a SAHM (my maternity leave finishes January 2011). I know this has probably been done 101 times, but would just like your opinions on the letter I have drafted, thanks:

    Dear Sir,

    RESIGNATION OF EMPLOYMENT
    POSITION: [xxx]

I refer to the above matter and note that I am currently on Maternity Leave. After careful consideration I wish to advise that I will not be returning to [company name] once my Maternity Leave ends, being January 2011. Accordingly, I hereby wish to resign from the position of [xxx] and employment of [company name].

I wish to thank the Partners, General Manager and [xxx] Department for the opportunity to work alongside them and for the opportunities for professional and personal development that you have provided me during the last two (2) years. I have enjoyed working for the firm and appreciate the support provided to me during my time with the company.

Should it be my wish to return to work in the future, I would once again consider [company name] and of course appreciate the option of being considered should a position be available.

    Yours faithfully,

    Thanks.

Sounds great.... but have you thought about asking them to *extend* your mat leave for another 12mnths to keep you options open?

Just might be worth asking... many employers are quite happy to do so, and it gives you the chance to reassess after another yr.

Of course this may be of no interest to you in your position- if so, then I think the letter is perfect!
