Hi Dr Jessup!
Yesterday we had a review appt with our Fertility Specialist which we found out the results of my husbands Sperm Analysis, He did the test the week after we were trying to conceive everyday for the whole week before and had a big night out the night before his submission. Apparently he has a low sperm count with low motility and there wasn't enough sperm to test for morphility. The specialist said (after the one and only test) that his count is too low and even if he had another test which improved it would still be bad and the only way we can conceive is via IVF. I feel we may need a second opinion, however we might just freeze some sperm just in case.
I have a copy of his results on hand (which are really hard to understand) as we are actually looking into trying acupuncture and chinese medicine for him to improve sperm count and motility. (I have heard lots of feedback that it can help boost levels and quality, also i have used this acupuncturist before for my own problems and have seen improvements)
Do you think that you can tell a lot from the one sperm analysis or should we ourselves take some time out to make improvements to his produce and then in another 3 months test again when the new produce comes through?
I just feel that the specialist was quick to 'jump the gun' and tell us that we need to fork out all the money for the IVF Procedure without giving us hope that there are things we can do to improve the situation. - If needed i can provide details of counts etc.
