    Default More kiddies than bedrooms...

My DS has almost outgrown his bassinet and it's nearly time for his cot...they grow too fast

Since the cot won't fit in our room, I've been thinking about how to sort the sleeping arrangements. As you can see by my sig we have 4 children. We currently live in a 4 bed home.

We hope to buy or build our own home within the next 12 months and hope to have a room each for them. But for now sharing a room is unavoidable.

So I have decided the 2 older girls share a room and the 2 little ones share another and have the other room as a toy room. My other option was to put DD2 & DD3 together so my eldest DD could have her own space and DS wouldn't disturb anyone waking during the night. The only problem with the last option is with 2 beds in 1 room there is very little space left for their toys. They currently have their own toys in their own room as there is no activity or games room.

Anyways what sleeping arrangements do you have in your home? Does it work for you, is everyone happy? Any advice when it comes to bedtimes?

I don't have a big family but do you have a garage? If you do how about putting some carpet down and turning that into the toy room?

I'm not sure who should share I guess it depends on how the get along and how they sleep during the night

Be careful when letting go of things you think mean nothing to you, You just might end up looking back and realising you let go of something you wanted after all...

Well umm we all share one room, we live in a double garage. 7 people, a bathroom toilet and a kitchenette in 6x6 metre space.
The new house has 6 bedrooms and a kid's lounge. One day it will be finished, it's only been 3 years so far.
Is blessed to have 6 wonderful kids.

We have 4 bedroom house too. OUr eldest (10) has his own room, the 2 other boys (6) and (2) share and DD (3) has her own room until this baby girl comes along....she will be in our room for 12 months and then share with DD (which DD is very excited about!!)

Wow Loving5...that must get cramped!! I'm sure it will be worth it when your great big new house is finished...it will probably feel like a mansion

Bexter we do have a garage, but no shed. Therfore our garage is our shed with lots of non child-friendly stuff. It's a good idea though, I'm storing that one away

Thanks for your reply Refresh. How are your boys at bedtime? Do your kiddies have a shared activity room for all the toys?

We have a 4 bed house with good sized bedrooms. DH has taken one as his study (not impressed with that), the twins have 1 & the other 4 share with 2 sets of bunks. It's working for now but I want to extend with a further 2 bedrooms for the girls as it wont be long before they'd like more space.

We live in a two bedroom place. We have 5 children in one room, two bunks and a single loft bed and mum and dad and any children that need to be in our room at times. We have a small sunroom as a toy room (or messy room). It is cramped but at least the kids bedroom is a double room, we have the smaller room. We also have just one bathroom and toilet, which I think tests me more than the bedroom space. We are looking to move but prices are so high now.

Ok...well since reading some of the replies, I feel a little silly putting so much thought into who is sleeping with who. It's now obvious to me we really don't have the space issues I thought we did.

My 2 oldest have shared a room for 2 nights now. Bedtimes have been a lot easier than I thought they would be.

My youngest girl is still in her own room until my little boy outgrows his bassinet. The cot is set up ready to go in there with her. I'm going to start putting him in there for day sleeps once I move the last of the toys out.

    I appreciate all your replys

I have been wondering about this too lately. We'll have to move I think. We're in a fairly small 3 bedroom house with another coming in March. It's mostly the bedroom size for us that is the issue - we should just about squeeze in a cot to our room but neither of the kids have any room for another bed/cot etc at all. We have a space for their toys (it's sort of an L shaped kitchen/dining room but then the lounge is L shaped too - so we use the lounge as lounge/dining and the other as kitchen/study and kids space).

We can probably squeeze 12 months out of this house if we have to (with bubs in our room) but once bubs needs space or a bed or anything we'll be stuck.

we livein a 3 bedroom house and have 4 kids we have the boys sharing and the girls sharing, my grandma has told me its better if they share so they will be better friends so even if we had a massive house there would still prob be 2 in a room
