Default IVF or tubal ligation reversal

hi, i had a tubal ligation about 11 years ago. Does anyone know if a reversal would be successful or is IVF my only option?? both are very expensive and we are trying to save like mad!

    Default Reversal of sterilisation

    Hi Crystaldreamer 77,

You should be able to have a tubal anastomosis ( reversal) done at any age, but there are some factors to consider. The first is your age. The closer you are to 40 the harder it is going to be for you to conceive naturally, and the more likely you are to need IVF for other reasons . Obviously it would be better to pay for one option or the other not both! Also , it is important to check that your partner has a normal sperm test, as if this is abnormal, again IVF would be the better option. I think one cycle of IVF would be cheaper than tubal reversal, but it depends on how many more babies you would like. Another factor to consider is that the ectopic pregnancy rate is higher after tubal surgery.
    Good luck with your decisions.
